Unfortunately, I was expecting a more brewery operations oriented tour of the facility, so that aspect of the tour was lacking. However, the information they teach about the beer, ingredients, and the beer tasting are the prime focus points of the tour. I would like to have had a more in-depth tour of the brewing facility, but the tour is still something that you can't miss. Some reviews mentioned that the neighborhood is less than desirable, but I didn't find myself one bit threatened. Jamaica Plain is no less desirable than any other working-class neighborhood in your own hometown. Don't miss the tour, as you can learn a lot about beer and maybe catch a glimpse of Jim Koch, the founder. Plan for about an hour in the tour, and as long as you want in the gift shop.
