Boston is a wonderful and friendly city, where the Irish pubs actually out number the Irish.
However if you visit please keep this in mind PLAN TO BOOK A HOTEL IN THE CITY, I made the mistake booking a room at the Hampton inn and suites Boston Cross-town Centre.
Not that the hotel was bad, actually it was a very “nice” hotel, it was clean and the service was nice the rooms are up to date, however for the $50.00 dollars a night difference with the hotels downtown (walking distance to everthing) I more than made up for in PARKING COSTS… I mean that I spent on Saturday alone $80.00 in parking.
On arrival I parked at the Metro multi level parking right behind the out door market, 4 hours equals $29.00 and with a bonus a terrible attitude from the lady manning the booth, on the phone, talking to her friend as she signaled with her hand for the money and throwing the change back at me, as I WAS INTERUPTING HER PHONE CONVERSATION. Then that evening went for dinner at La Famiglia Giorgio Italian Restaurant Boston Massachusetts 112 Salem Street Boston, another $25.00 for parking because it was game night (Bruins vs Ottawa) and you JUST CAN’T FIND PARKING IN LITTLE ITALY then off to see the Blue Man Group another $25.00 event price parking!!!.
However I would not have missed dinner at La Famiglia Giorgios for anything but one tip to you is MAKE A RESERVATION for Saturday, the portions are HUGE but the taste is even greater, the house wine at $26.00 a bottle is an excellent value, very nice. I had the sea food pasta, fresh and tasty and my date had the veal also very fresh and very nice. Service is very good, taking into account the fullness of the place; it is a family restaurant that is so cozy it also can be a light date place it’s kind of like go to a wedding dinner that you both know the couple.
As for the entertainment I got tickets at Bostix for the show blue man group, I was told…” these seats are under the balcony and that you will only miss the first five minutes of the show because the artists perform on the orchestra level in the beginning”…WRONG they perform about 40% of the show on that level so we spent about half the time bending our heads to see something…NEVER AGAIN GET RIPPED OFF BY BOSTIX for that show. The show itself is very good, it deserves a better venue however, the venue they play in is very cheap and poorly setup, kind of like a high school underground venue that play in a building that would surely be condemned in any other city.
Boston is truly a city of beautiful historical buildings, very friendly people and interesting things to do. It reminds me of my home town of Quebec City but more evolved, the only down side is the “parking mafia” that are ruthless to anyone traveling to bean town in a CAH.
Love Boston hate the Parking mongrels.
