We actually live a couple miles from this hotel. We stayed here for a little getaway from the kids. We wanted to be close enough just in case we had to rush back. This place is located in Carmel Mountain Ranch (San Diego), about a mile from the 15 freeway, in a commercial area (Northrop, UCSD Annex) and next to a Scripp's medical clinic. Across the street there is a CostCo, Claim Jumpers, Islands and PickUp Stix. About 3 blocks down is a shopping plaza with Ross, Mervyn's, Sears, Borders, etc. We paid $95 for a Saturday stay. Booked online using a AAA discount. Parking is free. Checking in was quick and painless. They even gave us a goody bag with water and chocolate for being a Priority Club member (free online to join). Also, with the membership, we were offered a 3:00pm late check-out following day instead of 12:00PM. The room was a decent size with a queen bed and sofa. It had a kitchenette with a frig, micro, sink, stove and utensils. Room was clean with a modern decor. They have cable TV but NO PayPerView. Free wireless internet (or) the desk will let you borrow a network cable. The hotel is only 3 floors so no need to wait for the elevators. Quicker to walk. If you are staying less than 7 days, maid service is limited to changing towels and emptying trash. Extensive cleaning is only for customers staying for a lengthy stay. The hotel offered a free, hot breakfast the following morning. Eggs, sausage, make your own waffles, cereals, bread and juices. Does get crowded between 8:30am - 10:30am. (breakfast starts at 7:30AM on the weekends) Really bad, where certain food is not available. And with only 1 person working the breakfast bar, you can expect a long wait. They do have a coffee area that is available 24hrs. Fitness center and descent library on-site. The pool is 3-5 feet but no jacuzzi. This was a wonderful little hide-away for me and the wife. Close to many restaurants, shopping and our house. We will definitely stay there again.

the location is ideal for the animal park but perhaps a little too far out to make visting San Diego easy.
We stayed in a 2 bedroomed 2 bath suite, one bedroom had 2 double beds the other a queen sized bed-ideal with 2 teenagers in tow.The suites are bright and airy with spacious living area and kitchen.Only fault - not a full oven and the 2 hotplates are difficult to work on [ no elbow room due to fridge being immediately on right side.]
there is free use of the hotel washers and dryers-very useful!
The pool is pleasant and there is a basketball court next door
The included breakfast is very good-we stayed over a weekend so no experience of food provided during week.Supermarkets within easy drive

I was impressed by the two-bedroow, two bathroom (with full kitchen) suite at the Staybridge Suites, Rancho Bernardo where we spent the weekend of August 25-26, 2007. The rooms are very clean and the beds and beddings are comfortable. There was enough space for everybody! The carpets are clean (I am very particular with the carpet because the children play and sit on them). The fully equipped kitchen and the bathrooms are all well maintained and clean. The buffet breakfast was very delicious, but what I liked most was the freshly brewed Wolfgang Puck coffee that is available 24/7. The exercise room that also contains the laundry room was very useful -- we used the machines while waiting for our laundry to get done. The staff were very courteous and one of them, a gentleman named Pierre was very kind and helpful. I highly recommend staying at this hotel and we surely would be coming back!

These accommodations were better than I expected. The rooms were large and comfortable. The kitchen had a full-size fridge. AND, they accepted our two dogs without a problem. The grounds are nice, and the hotel is in an upscale corporate park area, with company HQs and such nearby. Certain evenings, there were "free" dinner buffets available, but the best part is the Trader Joe's just down the street! BUT the staff seemed apathetic to my complaints about the clothes dryer that, after about 45 minutes, still left my clothes sopping wet. About 90 minutes after I complained, they still hadn't put up an "out of order" sign, so another unsuspecting guest had the same problem I did.
