“Could have been better, especially for the price!”

Went to this B & B expecting the quality of service this price and style suggest; found noisy rooms (not street noise) and a different "butler" each day! Could not get to know any of the staff because there was always someone diffrent.
The breakfast at first was a home made scone. After consumption, the 'butler' returns to take our ouder for a 'hot breakfast'. Had she informed us upon our seating that there would be 2 breakfasts, we would not have finished the scone. Hint to launderer; make sure the cloth napkins are completely DRY prior to storing!!
Parking is just the driveway behind the house; 1-2 cars max and in single-file. "wine and cheese" reception in afternoons was 'small'.
House is beautiful and this is perhaps the only place you can stay and 'live' among true Victorian antiques, but for the 6 million (yes, 6 million) spent on this place, service could be better.
Gordon, how about having some way for guests to acquire a coke, coffee or a snack in the middle of the night???

We stayed here for my cousin's wedding. She and her groom were staying in the Presidential room (I think it was called), but due to the fires in San Diego, they had to go get their cat, so they ended up staying in the carriage house.
That put me in the Presidential room. It was nothing short of breathtaking. Everything was perfectly clean and neat. The amount of detail and care put into making the room beautiful was evident. The bathroom was amazing, and I slept like a baby in the insanely comfortable bed. There was a flat-screen TV, but I barely watched it, since I fell asleep almost immediately in the bed.
I had no trouble sleeping, and didn't notice any noise from outside.
The windows were quite lovely as well.
We had breakfast in the morning, and it was also good. Not as remarkable as the rest of the establishment, but quite good.
The staff was friendly and and pleasant.
The location is also great for going to Balboa Park and restaurants.

My husband and I stayed at Britt Scripps Inn for two nights. We were in the library on the first floor. The only negative was the room is a little loud with single pane windows against the road traffic. However, we slept well through the noise because the bed was so comfortable. The sheets were 1000 count cotton. The mattress was soft, but supportive. Our bathroom was in style with a claw-tub and a towel warmer. We received a bottle of Voss water and chocolates on our pillows. The lights in the bedroom can be dimmed to be very romantic!

The butler staff is courtousy and helpful. They can give recommendations, maps, and coupons to just about anything you'd want to do in San Diego. The breakfast is scrumptious with hot strong coffee, a fresh warm scone, and homemade omelets or pancakes. The house it self it historical and elegant. There is a large stained glass window along the stair case, with a baby grand piano stationed below. The stair case banister is original (along with most of the wood work). The butler staff is there to answer questions you may have and to explain the history of the house.

Our first night there, my husband and I walked across Balboa Park to the Prado restaurant. We had a romantic dinner and amazing drinks and were able to just walk home. Our second night we in the gas lamp district, where the food was more expensive and not as good.

“Lovely hotel, but bring earplugs”

The reviews below are accurate. This hotel has been buffed out and is in great condition. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was excellent. Our experience was great until we tried to sleep. The (historic) single pane windows don't stop street noise from buses, trucks and airplanes. If you are a light sleeper, bring earplugs.

What an amazing place. We booked having read reviews etc on trip advisor.

The staff were all so friendly and efficient. Nothing was too much trouble and always on hand to offer suggestions of places to visits etc.

The ambience of the building was amazing. We stayed for 5 nights before travelling on to Honolulu and loved every minute of our stay. The bedroom (the library room) was just perfect (that bed was so comfy). The hotel provides complimentary off street parking - so handy

After a long enjoyable day sight seeing etc it was just bliss to return to Britt Scripps for wine and cheese and a lovely bath in that glorious bathroom.

San Diego was a beautiful city and if we return (I hope we do) we will certainly be returning to Britt Scripps

Thanks again everyone for a very memorable stay
