This Hilton Vacation Club is located on the 37 and 38 floors of the Hilton on 6th Ave near 53rd, a prime Manhattan location. The location alone made it worth the stay, but there are several things that could be improved upon. First, the check in. There is a Grand Vacation Club kiosk on the main lobby floor, but that's sales related. There is a non descript check in location on 37 inside the members lounge. Second, the rooms. We were given what seemed to us to be a standard hotel room. In fact, it was less than standard, as it had no coffee maker and no mini fridge. I expected there to be a fridge, I brought wine and cheeses and olives for a romantic evening, but had to suffice with filling the ice bucket and a plastic bag. I knew that these did not have full kitchens like other Grand Vacation Clubs, but thought they had at least those two things. Yes, there is a continental breakfast in the members lounge every morning with free coffee and some basics, but sometimes its nice to make a pot in the room to enjoy while reading the paper or watching the news without having to shower and get dressed and go down to a communal area. The evening reception was nice with complimentary wine and beer and appetizers. The club must have been booked to capacity because it was standing room only in there most evenings (and the thermostat was set to 78 degrees!). Getting back to the room, the beds were very comfortable and the linens nice, but the only place to sit was the bed or 3 desk type chairs. It was a GREAT set up for business travel. We have noticed in our travels that many Hilton properties are getting away from the heavily perfumed toiletry products. This property uses a very heavily perfumed line of products, so if you have sensitivities or allergies, be advised and bring your own. I think it is necessary for me to point out that we came here due to a really good deal for current vacation club members as part of a sales promotion. We did not upgrade our membership at this time, because what we have currently works well for us. We really enjoy our membership and the properties that we have visited as a result of it. At no time did we feel any pressure to make an additional purchase. The sales and marketing staff was great, very professional, and we did get some nice perks for giving them a short amount of our time. If we had been looking to add to our vacation club membership, we would not choose this property. We are also Diamond members with many thousands of points to use and the city has many other Hilton Properties to chose from where we could spend those. We will save our vacation club points for the condominium style properties we are accustomed to.
