We received a warm welcome when arriving at the hotel, we were in a room on the 13th floor overlooking the Port Authority building - not particularly attractive but we were only in the room to sleep and you can get so many amazing views elsewhere it wasn't a problem. The room was spotless and the facilities (full size fridge, coffee maker and in-room safe etc.) were appreciated. We stayed as a family with our teenage children and although mentioned on other reviews about the Parole Office and adult store further down the block, we didn't notice anything special when walking past them a couple of times a day and it certainly wouldn't put me off staying there again.
We returned back to the hotel at all hours of the day and late into the night and never felt unsafe, the area is well lit with plenty of people passing through.
The lifts were fine, you always have a bit of a wait at large hotels for the lift and it wasn't a problem.
Breakfast was a bit chaotic, too many people and not enough seating, I'd read that on other reviews and wondered "how bad can it be?" but found out on the first morning as we arrived hungry and couldn't find a seat, we tried going down at different times but it was always busy, if you don't mind a bit of a scrum to get breakfast it was fine, the food was basic but good and enough to set you up for the day. We actually couldn't face the rush one morning though and went out for pancakes, found a cafe just around the corner and it made for a nice change.
Our boys love pizza and so we had a great meal at at John's Pizzeria just a couple of blocks away (nice bar, great atmosphere and very family orientated, the pizza and salad were amazing) we also took advantage of the takeaway pizza place as you head up West 40th towards Times Square it was second on the right as you crossed at the first set of lights (2 slices and a soda for 5 dollars!!)
The hotel is pretty well located, not too far from anything and plenty of options when choosing somewhere to eat. If I ever go back to New York I'll certainly consider staying at the Staybridge again!
We had a corner room, it was spacious enough for 4 of us and relatively quiet, ask for higher floors...

We have also read the many comments regarding breakfast, and due to the fact that it is complimentary, it has become one of our most popular amenities. We do suggest to guests upon check in trying to come down at different times to alleviate the overcrowding.
Once again, we appreciate your feedback, and are always working to improve the overall guest experience here at Staybridge. We hope to see you again in the future. Thanks!
