This hotel is a really mixed bag. Yes it's quite central but there are better situated hotels. It's position on the road opposite the Bus Terminal means it's not got great views on lower floors and the immediate area is quite grimy and a bit seedy. It's not threatening just not pleasant.
The rooms are clean and have good facilities and the bed was really comfortable but the decor is dark and the hallways depressing. The position of the air conditioning unit is ridiculous and the curtains (sham) cut unevenly to compensate. They were also filthy and just having blackout curtains which didn't quite meet wasn't adequate. The road noise isn't kept out by the double glazing so if you're a light sleeper ear plugs will be needed.
Having said that the staff are great, helpful and polite. Breakfast is good, the food fresh and a good choice but they really need to sort out the dining space as breakfast is a very stressful affair with lots of bumping into folk, queuing and often no-where to sit. The provision of trays for guests to carry their food to the additional seating area in the bar would be really helpful as making 4/5 trips is really frustrating.
One big plus point is the social gatherings 5-7pm which took place on three week nights, free food and alcohol. Met some really nice people there.
Overall it's a good stay and time spent in the room is minimal so the downsides to this didn't affect our enjoyment of the trip overall.

This hotel is really great value for money. The location is ideal for the subway with a station being 40 metres away. We got around NYC so easily from there and also walked to the Hudson River in about 15 minutes from the Staybridge. The free breakfast wasn't exactly gourmet, but hey, it's free and if you just want a quick bite before heading off it was ideal. The room whilst small, was comfortable and clean with a good shower. We were in a room at the front of the hotel on floor 22 which was quiet. We barely heard the sirens etc that NYC is renowned for. The laundry facitiltes were very good as were the staff, who were friendly and polite. WIFI worked well but unfortunately the lifts didn't. Our only complaint are the notoriously slow lifts. Three lifts for so many rooms made for quite a wait and then of course a squeezy ride. But apart from the annoyance of the lifts the Staybridge Suites Times Square are really good. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

This is a great venue for New York. Short distance to Time Square and good eating places in Hells Kitchen. Very friendly staff. Free breakfast is a bonus. Rooms are well equipped and showers very effective . Will stay here again on our next trip.

Room tip: We stayed on the 27th floor. Views not great but we were out most of the time so was fine

This hotel was a wonderful beginning to my first time in New York. The breakfast was wonderful and a great variety. A perfect location to see many sights. I read many reviews about this hotel before I booked it. This was better than I had anticipated. The happy hour was more than I expected. It was like having a dinner instead of the usual happy hours. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Also many reviews said the elevators were slow. I was on the 62nd floor and never had to wait more than 2 minutes for an elevator. I would recommend this hotel to anyone making a trip to New York.

Room tip: If you want a view pick the higher floors. I had a great view on floor 62.

This is my fourth visit to the Staybridge and once again it didn't disappoint. It is very clean and all the staff are very helpful. The breakfast is great and we found going down to the breakfast room around 8.30am meant we could aways get a table. We always ask for a room at the back and high if possible. We find there us no traffic noise and it's much quieter.
It's not the cheapest hotel in NYC but it's certainly one of the best. Thank you to everyone at the Staybridge for another great visit. New York is fabulous
