There's nothing wrong with this hotel if you're looking for something right in the middle of the noise, chaos and fun of Times Square. I guess the "W" Brand is just not for me. You enter on the street level and immediately take an elevator up to the lobby on the 7th floor. The main function of the lobby is really the bar area. This is the only free Wi-Fi area, but there's really no comfortable or quiet place to sit -- in other words, don't look for a 'sanctuary' away from the throngs of people. Check-in was fine, but that was our only interaction with any staff members. The entire lobby and elevator area are dimly lit, and (especially in the elevator) this is mildly annoying as you struggle to find the button for your floor and realize you need to swipe your room card first. Our room was nice with very modern furnishings and an (expensive, of course) mini-bar and 'snack' box which we did not use. The bathroom is surrounded on two sides by a dark, opaque glass which I suppose is trendy, but I found rather creepy -- do I want the other people in the room observing my blurry silhouette as a I go about my business in the bathroom? The sink is the type where the bowl sits on top of the counter, and there is one small lever at the back that you pull either way to get hot or cold water. Of course, by reaching back there you leave a trail of water over the too-small counter top so you'll be wiping stuff off constantly.
Don't get me wrong, these are small things, but I would say this hotel is geared towards people who are undoubtedly more trendy than I am! I wouldn't describe it as 'comfortable,' but perhaps when you're right in Times Square you shouldn't expect that anyway.

Thank you for your comments! Though Ws Worldwide do have a particular style, I can certainly appreciate that it does not necessarily cater to every taste. That said, we strive to make all of our guests feel welcome, no matter their preferences. For instance, if you request extra lighting, a "shower in secret" cover for the bathroom, or assistance with using the sink, we are here for YOU! It's "Whatever/Whenever...Really!"
All the best,
