We arrived at JFK and took a yellow cab to the hotel which took about 25 minutes and a flat fee of $54. Perfect, central location near to Times Square, 5th avenue and Empire State Building. We had a great room on the 14th floor which was clean and had great blackout curtains. There was tea and coffee available in the lobby 24/7 and a great deli right next door if you were feeling hungry. The breakfast area was small, but there were trays available to take your food back to your room which we preferred.
There was only one slight negative - directly across the road is an Irish bar which had very loud music thumping until the small hours: take some ear plugs and you'll be fine!

My friend and I had one of the best experiences with this affordable hotel!!!! First, the hotel staff was so amazing and very nice! Especially the entire front desk staff....Brian, Yasira and all the other nice staff. If we ever needed help or directions, they helped us out or made phone calls for us.

The breakfast was great, especially for it to be free. Bagels, pancakes, sausage, bacon, biscuits, gravy, cereal, the list goes on. We were even able to take breakfast on the go if we needed to do so.

The room was small however, it was big enough to the point that we weren't on top of each other.

The location was great because everything was easily accessible. We could literally walk in either directions and be in the middle of all the action!

I cant wait to visit NYC again...I will definitely be booking this hotel again!

Affordable hotel option, convenient to Penn Station for dropping off bags early, subway access to run around the city, free continental breakfast (just okay), leaving bags after checking out, running around the city again and grabbing them on way back to Penn Station. Rating a 4 because of convenience.

Stayed here between 21-25 August and after reading previous reviews I am glad I made the right choice!

Check In
upon arrival we were greeted by a plesant gentleman at concierge and offered us a room on the 6t floor. To be honest we would have preferred a room higher up but we were happy as it didn't take us long to get down for breakfast in the morning. We waited around 10 minutes and grabbed a coffee in the meantime before going to the room.

Rooms
I could not fault the room we were given, literally overlooking the keg room bar adjacent! We had two double beds which were very comfy and include a flat screen tv, safe, coffee maker, wardrobe and drawers. The bathroom was pretty small however bearing in mind the time you spent in your room in NYC..really a shower and sleep?!? Plenty of sockets available too for all your electrical appliances aswell which i liked! Free Wifi is included but the password changes every monday so be sure to check with reception so they can give this to you.

Breakfast
I beg to differ with some other reviews that said there was a lack of choice. In my opinion it was completely the opposite. We got this hotel at a great cost and for what we got included was amazing! from what i can recall, the following was served

Hot Cinnamon Buns
Pancakes
Scrambled Eggs (which were sometimes not fully hot)
Bacon Rashers
Turkey Rashers
Sausages
Biscuits and sauce
Omelletes (avoid with a passion as they are like rubber)!!
Porridge in a variety of flavours
Bagels/bread/cereals
Yoghurts - Greek and Low Fat also mini cartons of milk including boiled eggs in the fridge!
Roast Coffee which i thought was lovely
Variety of teas including earl gray
Fresh Fruit - oranges were tasty!

We did tend to eat early so around just after 8am it does tend to get busy but tables are quickly cleared up. There is also TVs so you can catch a bit of GMA!!

Also available in the lobby are three PC's for you to access the internet and a printer to use for your boarding passes.

In terms of locality, you could not be anymore central. It is a block away from Macys Store, main access to subway stations at 34th street and there is a bar across the road called the keg room which does good happy hours and nice food. I would also recommend a bar located on west 35th street called the playwright bar..great selection of beers and a fun atmosphere!

Looking to come back over the xmas period and would highly recommend!!

Pros:
a very good holiday inn express. I booked a double deluxe room, room was not ready at 2:45 but checkin is at 3, the lady at the front desk was very professional and offered to keep my bags.
The room was very clean, spacious, and with space to move and play for kids. The furniture was fairly modern and well maintained. Bathroom was clean and shower was pretty good.
Cons:
1. As an IHG member, i am entitled to a late checkout (2:00 pm) as it is the case at every holiday inn express. Manager(had no name tag on) was kind of on the rude side when she called at 12 to say that checkout is at 11. I had to explain that i already asked for late checkout and front desk accepted.
2. Breakfast is not replenished appropriately. If you go to the breakfast area within 45 min to close you may just want to skip.

Overall, this location has great potential, rooms very well maintained. Location within 10-15 min walk from times square. Would definitely go back
