We are frequent travelers into NYC and stay at a variety of hotels, usually high end to boutique. On a last minute trip, we booked a room at the Homewood Suites and were blown away. Before arriving, I was expecting a mid-level hotel, but we were so pleasantly surprised that this will become a top choice in the future.
First, a huge thank you to Leslie at the front desk. She was amazing. At check in, she was so professional and warm. She genuinely wanted to make it a best stay possible and she succeeded. She found a wonderful room for us and when she heard that we were celebrating our anniversary, she sent up some yummy goodies - thank you. Then, when we asked for a late check-out, she went out of her way to make it happen. Her level of excellent service was 5 star and better than some of the way more expensive hotels that we visit.
As for the hotel - it is very nice and new. The layout is modern and sleek. The bedding is very nice and the kitchenette is a wonderful feature (having a full refrigerator, microwave, extra sink and range makes a big difference for both business and family travel). The bathroom is also very good. Couple of suggestions here is that there could be extra shelf space for toiletries and the shower needs some type of slip proofing - when wet...We are frequent travelers into NYC and stay at a variety of hotels, usually high end to boutique. But the decor and amenities are very nicely done and supplied. Added bonuses include free wi-fi, coffee/tea in lobby 24 hours and a very nice breakfast each morning. Not just the usual continental, but eggs, sausage, potatoes, oatmeal, fruit, etc. For NYC, it is not usual to have this type of buffet included in the price. And, we saw that every Mon-Thur, they offer free dinner and drinks. Again, incredible value for price paid.
The location is very good for those who may be traveling in/out of Penn Station or visiting Madison Square Garden/shopping at Herald Square. It is also not a far walk for Times Square - another top tourist destination.
In summary, this hotel is new and well done. Although not as expensive as a much higher rated property, it offers the service and amenities above and beyond its competitors. Definitely add it to your list of great NYC finds.More
