We just spent an extended weekend at The Plaza, and it was one of the best experiences yet. Many might complain about the cost, etc. etc, but if you're going to enjoy the wonderful city of New York, you need a base that can provide the amenities that signal "this is something special". The location is the best- directly adjacent to Central Park and tons of shopping! I'm not sure any other hotel could provide the same convenience and luxury. The staff was "at your service", providing not only answers but a warmness and pride that indicated they really enjoyed being part of the team. The Palm Court is a perfect example of someone with vision taking a "landmark" and making it part of today's scene. We enjoyed breakfast there every day. Shopping extends in every direction. In addition, it was easy to see that the hotel caters to families as well as business. What a remarkable place!!

Room tip: It is important to look into special offers provided by many agencies. We took advantage of the American Express "Fine Hotels" opportunity.

enjoyed the experience concierge was great rooms were pleasent and clean
butler service was good and friendly. position was just right hotel decore was

The best location in New York. It's the quintessential New York experience. Big Hotel. Big Rooms and Baths. Big Price. Busy. The spectacular Todd English Food Hall downstairs is not to be missed. The Butler service is personalised, caring, and focused on making you happy. Only two problems. So popular its difficult to get a reservation and the health club is the size of a postage stamp and worse still, with limited hours. But, you arguably are wasting time in the gym when in New York as there is so much on offer around the clock. Staff is pleasant and efficient. Even when they wear those silly union pins which must mean something to someone. Have never had a bad stay here. Worth every penny.

My husband was running the NYC marathon- the curtains. In our suite wouldn't close- were informed by our butler that the curtains dint close and are fixed decorations - slept very badly as street lamps were directly on our face- snooty restaurant staff- unacceptable wait times and need to ask for bar bites- if you are white you may have better service

The Plaza is almost a must but because they know it they can get a little cocky!! It is a beautiful place and if you stay there you must know that you have to pay for their fame. And that is no problem as long as they do not become ridiculous!!! I stayed in a regular room for one night and i requested a kettle to boil water and make tea, no problem. The day after i changed to a suite and they called me to tell me that there was a 15 $ charge for that, INCONSISTENT!!! I had several friends coming to visit so i was ordering wine almost every day, usually they would bring nuts or similar. The only day that they didn't bring them, i called telling them that they forgot the nuts and what was my surprise when i see a 40$ charge for the nuts, once again INCONSISTENT!

On another occasion my fiend came by and we decided to drink the champagne from the mini bar so i called for champagne glasses. To my surprise they called me to tell me that there was a "corkage fee" for champagne glasses; i said "i´m sorry, you don't understand, i am not drinking my own chamagne i am drinking yours"....Still they insisted on the corkage fee (they even admitted to me that it was RIDICOULOUS). As far as i know "corkage fee" aplies to a bottle that you bring not to one that you pay for! It gets better....The day after i ordered a bottle of white wine and i told them to bring it with champagne glasses because i like my wine in champagne glasses...obviously they brought them without "corkage fee" and when i asked the waiter he told me the glasses were complimentary because i had ordered the wine. So what? drinking from the mini bar is not the same as "ordering" from them? so are guest that want to drink champagne from the mini bar supposed to bring their own champagne glasses??? TOTALLY ABSURD for a Hotel with the reputation of the Plaza.
On the good side the rooms are very confortable, bed is great, amenities top quality and service is pretty good. Concierge service is great and people at front desk very helpful. Location unbeatable. Food courts at basement are FANTASTIC!!!
will i stay again?? YES!!! (but i will bring my own champagne glasses)
Ps. Mr General manager you need to fix somethings at your hotel

Room tip: King rooms are good but junior suites on 14th floor are my favourites
