We stayed at the hotel for a week over the NY Marathon. The hotel was excellent. We had a room overlooking Central Park which was well worth it. The hotel is fantastically positioned at the crossroads between midtown and Central Park. The room was large with a wonderful view of the Park and down 59th street. Service was very good.

Well recommended

Room tip: A view of the Park was wonderful and memorable

We stayed at the Sherry for 7 days at the end of September. It was my husbands special birthday and he wanted to celebrate it in NYC with our 3 teenagers. At first I thought that the Sherry was out of our budget but then saw the special - book a suite and get the interconnecting room complimentary. The rooms we had were perfect - I think 2309 and 2311. Spacious enough for a family of 5 and a kitchenette. We had views out over Central Park and down to 59th st.
We arrived at the hotel at 10.30 at night and were checked in by Tammy. Tammy went out of her way to look after us. We were starving and we were worried that all the local restaurants were closed, but Tammy knew where to send us and phoned ahead to Serafina's ( some of the best pasta we have even eaten!).
We can't speak more highly of the Sherry, its staff, the location and the close proximity to the subway. Thanks again Sherry Netherland.

Room tip: 2309 and 2311 had lovely views over central Park.

During October, we stayed at the Sherry twice - once for two nights and again for one night. We decided to try the Sherry based on positive reviews. We were not disappointed! This is a boutique hotel, with a small but sumptuous lobby and only 50 hotel rooms (in addition to the permanent residents). There are numerous staff, including elevator operators, who will do almost anything to make guests comfortable. The hotel has a cozy feeling about it, and is far more intimate than hotels like the Waldorf or Plaza.

The rooms are generously-sized, each with a different décor, are furnished very nicely, and are VERY QUIET thanks to thick windows. We tried rooms on the second floor and a higher floor, and were very satisfied with the rooms. One had a city view to the south, and another a view to the north of all of central park. This made for pleasurable viewing. Bottom line: the place to stay in mid-town Manhattan when you need to relax and feel spoiled.

Room tip: Ask what the view from the individual rooms are like. We really enjoyed the Central Park view on our first stay, and equally liked the city view on our second visit. So pick the room based on your preferences.

Over 20 years ago, a wise older gentleman I worked with told me that he always stayed at The Sherry Netherland and that there was no better hotel in NYC. Since than, I've had multiple tips to the city, but circumstances always directed me elsewhere. This year, we had had a long weekend trip planned, and it seemed the right time to stay at the Sherry Netherland.

In short, this may be the best hotel in the US. For a couple's weekend in NYC, I don't think we'd choose anyplace else. The location, abutting Central Park, is convenient to Midtown and the Upper East Side. The staff is beyond helpful and polite, just the best! Our room was an interior room, and as noted elsewhere, was quiet...maybe the quietest we've experienced anywhere. It was well appointed with a very comfortable bed.

From the bellmen, to the front desk, to the doormen, to housekeeping, and to the elevator operators (an outstanding "throwback" touch!), the staff are the best!!

I can only conclude that this hotel is more like staying at home than anyplace we've been. If you are in NYC, don't miss it!

And...thank you my late friend - you were right!!

We were looking for a good base for a five day visit to New York. Not a huge budget but we wanted somewhere not too noisy where we could get a good nights sleep Ina nice large comfortable bed. Allegedly not so easy to find in Manhattan.
We made a shortlist from Trip Advisor reviews and this hotel was suggested as an alternative. Reviews pretty much exclusively were very positive and portrayed the hotel as what we wanted so we booked.
What a great choice. This is not a large hotel with loads of facilities and choices of restaurants, but its full of old-world class and charm. The restored ceiling in the lobby is quite impressive. The staff are all courteous and helpful. This is not exclusively a hotel, it's an old grand apartment building with about 50 rooms set aside for hotel use. We had a room with an internal view, so although the hotel is right on the corner of central park, we couldn't see the park from our room, but it was quiet, I mean SILENT at night. The room was large and spacious with a very large, luxurious bed.
Depends on what your needs are, but we couldn't have chosen better for our needs and would definitely return to this hotel if we head back to New York (which is also fabulous)
