On The Ave was alright for a boutique hotel but nothing special. The front desk was severaly understaffed upon my arrival and I had to wait a long time to check in. The "Deluxe King Suite" room I had was small but probably about standard from NY standards. There was a LOUD jackhammer outside until 5:30 in the evening- it didn't start before 7:30 in the morning when I left so that was nice. The bed was ultra comfortable and the shower was large. Some nice touches like nice toilletries and soft robe and slippers. I guess the overall experience just wasn't that spectacular (especially for the price). Location isn't that great but also not horrible. Overall, I was pretty neutral on the experience....I wouldn't be opposed to staying there again but I probably wouldn't seek it out either.

Just came back from a 3 night stay at On the Ave and we were very pleased with our experience. We ( 4 ladies) came for a long weekend and decided to stay on the UWS this trip. We absolutely loved the area and the hotel was perfectly located. The rooms were very clean and the beds very comfortable. The bathrooms are a bit small, but with only 2 in the room it was manageable. We loved the Manhattan Diner just across the street and ate breakfast there most mornings. There are so many wonderful restaurants in the area to choose from. I had a list of recommendations from posters on this site and they turned out to be wonderful! We used a taxi from the airport when we arrived, but when we were checking out the hotel offered us their town car for pretty much the same price as a taxi. I wish we had known they would have picked us up on arrival because this is defintely the way to go - comfortable, nice car and a great driver for $50 (tip included). We will defintely stay here again and next time arrange for them to meet us at the airport! You can't go wrong with this hotel!

Having seen the nice photos of the hotel on their website I still was not quite sure it would be that good - but it was! After a long flight and problems at the airport my arriving to the hotel was so late and I was so happy to hear they had upgraded my room to a bigger one. The staff was very friendy, rooms were very nice and clean, the beds very comfortable. There was no sound of traffic at least to my room on the 8th floor. Only a few minutes from the Central park and a tube ride from down town. Just perfect!

We've just returned from a week at On The Ave and would thoroughly recommend it. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room (double/
double) was plenty big enough for us and all our shopping!! The hotel is in the Upper West Side and a huge plus was its proximity to Central Park (5 min walk) such a treat in the city. The UWS has a more local feel to it than hectic Midtown and there were lots of bars
and restaurants within walking distance and a super food market just across the street. The subway is just a couple of blocks and the 1 line will take you to Times Sq & Downtown. As there is no bar in the hotel, the roof terrace is a nice spot to bring your own drinks and watch the city go by. If you're looking for a good mid-price option in the UWS On The Ave has all you'll need for a great break in this great city!!
