Stayed at the Ranch July 13th.Its all about the location though we found the rooms comfortable enough. The restaurants are average. The bar was very quiet and at one stage my son and myself were the only occupants for about two hours drinking and playing pool which was fun.The staff were courteous but seemed subdued.
Facilities are pretty good there is a launderette and the shops OK.I thought Death Valley was great ,much more impressive than the Grand Canyon largely due to the quietness which added to the experience.
Would definately stay here again and would like to return.
PS very hot in July ,though you knew that already!!

We have just returned from California and spent 2 nights in the Furnace Creek Ranch. On the whole we were pleased with the hotel.

Good points were:
- Location was in Death Valley with main attractions within easy reach
- Rooms were clean and adequately furnished
- Quality of food was good
- Staff were friendly
- There is a good general store on-site
- Room rates were good (please note this is off season)

Bad points were:
- Being out of season some building work was being carried out and the pool was closed. We used the Furnace Creek Inn pool instead (which was better, but a car ride away)
- Other facilities were closed as it was off season
- The restaurant had a limited menu.
- Construction workers were everywher including the pool and restaurant

Given the location I feel it is a good value for money hotel.

For those going in the summer, it is very hot in Death Valley. You know what they say 'Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the mid-day sun' I didn't see many dogs but there were plenty of Englishmen (myself included!).

We stayed in the Furnace Creek Ranch as the Inn was closed. I read most of the reviews before booking this place, but found it to be more than adequate. Most other people it seemed were looking for something resembling a Las Vegas hotel in the middle of Death Valley, - that it is not, but it provides everything you would want.
As a 'Ranch' resident you can use the Inn's amenities such as the swimming pool etc which was wonderful, as were the gardens.
The restaurant was a bit bland and pricey but the food was okay. If you get a chance to play golf, the course looked great and they were offering a $25 package (per person) which included the greens fees, cart, & clubs - can't beat that!
I would recommend this place providing you are not fussy about having a shower cap or mints on your bed - and yes, there is a coffee maker in the room!

We stayed at Furnace Creek Ranch for one night as we travelled through Death Valley. We stayed in one of the cheaper cabins, which was basic but had everything we needed.

We ate at Wrangler Cafe, and the meal was good if overpriced - and that's the thing about Furnace Creek - it would all seem better if more reasonably priced, but due to their location they charge an arm and a leg and can get away with it. But to stay in that location, it's worth it!

“Very Disappointing for the price”

We stayed for one night at the Furnace Creek Ranch. The hotel front desk staff were on the verge of rude and offered little information about the amenities and the places to visit. The building was quite old and small. The room price was quite high and charged to our card as soon as the reservation was made and not at the time of check like most places. At the time of check in, we were astonished to find out that the pool was closed along with one of the restaurants. However, with there not being much of a choice (nothing else around for miles), and our card already being charged, we had to stay there. It would have been nice if their website mentioned in adavance that certain amenities were unavailable. The bathroom light barely even worked. For the restaurant that was open, it had very high prices and long waits. The pages of over xeroxed information we received at checkin included facilities at the ranch there were closed down or no longer existed. I do not recommend this place to anyone, however, there doesn't seem to be much of a choice out there.
