View and location on the Columbia River was quite pleasant. Menu meal descriptions were appealing and we selected Salmon and Halibut. Meal lacked flavor and fish was overcooked. Average wine selection was a bit pricey. Hostess seemed annoyed that we did not have a reservation even though the place was practically empty. After our meal and dessert, the hostess asked us if we would mind going to the lounge, basically asking us to leave the table! Our bill was well over $100 and gave a generous tip, only to be asked to leave, we had not even finished our coffee. Total time at the table was less than an hour! I have never experienced this type of restaurant decorum! I would consider this a different matter if the restaurant was very busy and customers were waiting. But this occurred with at least 7 or 8 empty tables! Restaurant appeared to be operated by very young adults. I would suggest the owner be more involved or hire a mature manager!

I was going to bypass the Baked Alska due to so many poor TripAdvisor reviews. But - since Pier 11 was closed I decided to try it out. Wonderful, unobstructed view of the Columbia River. Food was good and the service as well. I'll eat here again without hesitation.

Eaten at Baked Alaska twice. Both were good experiences.

A large group of 14 people for a family reunion. Had a private room and the manager (Chad) personally served us because of it was the local prom night and the high school help was not available.

Outstanding selctions of wines and good variety of main plates.

When in Astoria, Baked Alaska is a must eat place in my opinion!

We were with a group of about 44 people whom had preordered meals several days before the event. We were given a choice of six entrees: 4 priced at $16.50 and two (hamburger or chicken pot pie) at $12.50 inclusive. Changing the preordered entrée was not permitted by the waiters.

My wife and I chose the hamburger, (after reading unflattering reviews on this site) after all, how hard could preparing a good burger be? Ah, but read on. They arrived warm, with shoe string fries, several thin mushroom slices, lettuce, a bit of tomato and an unappetizing over cooked half-pound slab of ground beef, probably micro-wave re-heated. (The time lapse from table order to delivery was not long enough to cook the burger and the meat was dry, over done and tasted like leftovers) When the bill arrived, they tried to charge us $33.00! The waiter made the correction after it was brought to his attention.

Other patrons in our group had similar experiences, especially with regards to overcharging. We spoke with two people who were pleased with the salmon, but there were far more negative comments than positives from our associates

NEVER AGAIN! If you really want to dine with a view of the magnificent Columbia River, grab a Big Mac., drive to a view point and enjoy!

“Made me Sick :(”

The view is to die for, but please don't go here expecting good seafood, opt for a sandwich.

The atmosphere is light and airy and not cosy at all. The service is fair. And the food though a fairly good selection is also fair.

The shrimp appetizer made me ill, I called them the next day as me and my friend had shared it and both got sick from it, they appologized but thought they should have done a bit more. I called simply to warn them but they said their shrimp was fresh.. Wonder why we were BOTH so sick then!
