WOW! Spent two nights here with two sons (7 and 4) and elderly parents (70s). I hadn't been here in over 20 years - it's incredible! The place was renovated over a year ago - it is wonderful. My boys said, "this is like a cool castle" - the building is a pueblo style lodge, with lots of stairs (beware if you are mobility challenged) and interesting nooks. Parents had a king room - plenty spacious. Boys and I had a suite - lots of room - great sitting area for the boys to play and all of us visit and play games. Everything was in great condition and working order - very clean.

The pool is a little cold, but you can warm up to it pretty quickly.

The Black Bear restaurant is amazing! Very good food and very reasonably priced - with great portions. Beware of the pancakes - huge and tasty!

There is no internet service, but hey, we were on vacation.

There are mountains to climb, grounds to explore, shade to chill out in and sights to see in the area.

I couldn't have asked for a better experience - all I had hoped for and more in reliving some great childhood memories with my sons. I just hope the secret of how great this place is doesn't get out too far and get it overrun!

The Indian Lodge was wonderful! One of the best hotels I have ever stayed at--and I have traveled more than many folks. All it needed was fluffy bathrobes and high-end soaps/shampoos and I would have thought I was in a 5-star hotel! It's hard to believe it was in a State Park. The rooms were perfect--fresh cookies and a note by the bed when we checked in; the views were breath-taking; the hotel was tastefully decorated to match the hotel's history and location; the rooms were clean and fresh! The restuarant was very reasonably priced and the food was adequate. Overall it was unbelieveable for the price and the fact that it is a small state park location.

This is not a BB but a full hotel and needs to be moved on this site...

We stayed one night and were impressed with the facilities: large rooms, tvs, huge bathroom, tons of meeting rooms, lovely pool (too cold to use in January) and excellent scenery.

We had new year's dinner at the hotel limpia and a lovely breakfast at the restaurant at the lodge.

The sky was incredible when we were there: wide with the brightest moon and stars, stars and stars.

Me and my lady just stayed at the lodge for a few days. If you like hiking,clean air, and wide open spaces this is a good place to go. The lodge is very clean, and well maintained. Nice pool as well. The Black Bear restaurant is the one thing I won't recommend. Go into town for much better food. Also we don't have any kids but this place seemed to be very family friendly. Over all it was a good time and we would go back.

Great facility, clean rooms for a park hotel and awesome views and hiking!

The restaurant could use a less bland menu, but you're there for the outdoors and high desert adventure, not the cuisine...right?

We have been there twice and would definately go back again. Be sure and attend a "StarParty" at the observatory, tour Fort Davis and the art galleries in Marfa while you're in the area. This is a very underrated vacation spot in Texas.

We loved the dry climate and no crowds, as thats all we have in Houston.

We'll be back real soon, as its only 8 hours from Houston.
