My stay at the Blue Door was terrific on all fronts. I was visiting Baltimore for the first time, and Roger and Cecelia were kind and patient in helping me navigate the city. My room, the Washburn, was large, elegant and clean, and the breakfasts were also wonderful (and very big). I recommend the Blue Door very strongly.

My husband and I were thoroughly impressed with the "Blue Door on Baltimore" during our May visit. We were in the enormous Washburn room, which faces the street and has a large bathroom attached. The room itself was lovely. “Casual elegance” is the perfect description for this Inn. Since it just opened a few months ago, everything felt very new. The king-size bed was fabulous. I especially loved taking advantage of the new claw-foot soaking tub in the bathroom. Our room had a small flat-screen television. Bottled waters and sodas were provided, which was nice.

We walked to dinner at the nearby “Salt” restaurant on Saturday night. I highly recommend making a reservation. The food was phenomenal.

Breakfast on Sunday morning was delicious. There was an assortment of fresh baked breads, a first course of fruit salad, and a main course of baked French toast with a cream-cheese filling – which was to die for. It was a joy to talk with Roger and Cecelia, who are clearly passionate about the Blue Door.

As for the location, it’s worth noting that this is truly an urban inn. That said, we had no problem finding street parking right out front. I did wake up a few times during the night due to street noises; however, I imagine this wouldn’t happen if you’re lucky enough to get one of the rooms at the back of the house. (The Washburn is the only one that faces the street.) The Blue Door is within walking distance of the Hopkins Hospital campus. I felt safe walking outside with my husband, but I probably wouldn’t have liked walking alone at night. Of course, this is normal - I don’t think I’d feel safe walking alone in any city.

We only spent one night but it did the trick of relaxing and rejuvenating us. As soon as we walked through the blue door, we felt like we had escaped to another world. We look forward to returning.

A delightful experience. The Inn Keepers are very attentive to the needs and desires of their quests and make them feel at home. The rooms are large and confortable. The food is home made and delicious.
