I booked two rooms mid-week at the Admiral Fell Inn at a disounted rate of $109.00 (through TravelZoo), and was very pleased with our stay. The staff was very eager to please (above average friendliness). Our rooms were 116 and 216, and both were large, with 2 full beds in each room, and a moderately-sized bathroom. The rooms and lobby were clean and tastefully furnished. Room 216 had a very squeeky floor, but this is a historic building, so I can accept some squeeking.

We did not eat at their restaurant. There were 4 steps in the front of the building, so I guess it is not wheelchair accessable. Inside there are a few steps at various places on each floor, but there are elevators.

After a 6% hotel tax and a 7.5% Baltimore tax, and the hotel's service fee ($9.95), our total came to $140/room.

Disgusting. The valet's were the only employees there who were kind and courteous. The experience specialist would not make it in the real world. No extra's at all. Full price for water taxi tickets. $9.95 extra fee. I am glad we only stayed one night. The maids were up and walking around knocking on doors to clean at 9:00 a.m.

“Great staff and location”

We spent five days there under a Johns Hopkins package. I've stayed many places, from value motels to four diamond properties, and this is one of the best trained group of personnel I've encountered. They could not have been more friendly or helpful, from shuttle driver, to front desk, to valet parking, to general help. It's easy to overlook a shortcoming or two when everyone is working so hard to make your stay a good one.

The location is superb, right on a great waterfront with numerous really good restaurants, art galleries, and shops. There are also a lot of condos in the area, so the whole downtown is alive at night. There are lots of areas to walk.

The hotel room we had was on the ground floor, overlooking a little alleyway garden where someone had even planted herbs. There were 3 chairs and a desk, in addition to a small fridge, two beds, and several tables, but the room was not at all cramped. The only downside to the room was that for some reason, between about 11:30 p.m. and 1:30 a.m., there always seemed to be doors slamming -- was never able to figure out who or why.

I was never able to get a good internet connection in the room (it may have been my browser settings), but I was able to use the computer in the lobby.

A complimentary breakfast buffet in the tearoom was good and a nice way to start the morning.

There were a few housekeeping issues, but they didn't really distract from the overall experience, and the hotel seemed genuinely interested in feedback.

To bottom line, it was an attractive, cozy, very enjoyable place to stay.

We were in town for the weekend for a music festival in Mount Vernon. After reading a bunch of horror stories of hotels and motels in that area, we opted for this well reviewed hotel in Fells Point (about $10 cabfare away).

We had the chance to explore the Inner Harbor and some other neighborhoods while we were in town and we would say Fells Point is the best place to stay. You have restaurants, bars, etc. in a nice cobblestone street setting right on the water and a very easy 10 minute stroll into the Inner Harbor. 15 minute walk to convention center.

The bars and restaurants in Fells Point offer a good mix of tourist and local folk whereas the Inner Harbor is more crowded and mostly with tourists.

The only thing to watch with this particular hotel is the hidden $9.95/night charge. This "destination fee" gets you internet access, US phone calls, and some other stuff for a flat rate of $9.95/night. They advertise it on flyers in the room as though it's an optional package but it's not.

While it may be a good deal for some, we didn't need any of it and disputed the charges on check-out. The clerk explained to us it's not an optional charge and it's applied to all their rooms. I told him we didn't use any of those facilities and that I thought it was misleading to hide $10 of the nightly room rate in fine print.

The clerk ended up waiving the charges for us but, although extremely polite, he made it seem like he was doing us a big favour so don't count on this.

Everything else with the place was fine. Check-in was fast (under a minute). The room was comfortable. Housekeeping was thorough. Staff were polite and helpful. Didn't use room service.

Would I stay here again? Maybe. I'd look around first though for somewhere a bit more honest.

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for a weekend get-a-way. We thought everything was great. The hotel's service specialist was extremely helpful. Our hotel package was great and reasonably priced for what we recieved. We enjoyed the hotel's cozy enviornment. It is similar to the enviorment of a bed and breakfast with the privacy of a hotel. The best of all is the location of the hotel. It is right across the street from shops, bars and the water taxi that takes you to all of the other ports on the bay.
