I did not initially plan on staying in Baltimore on business and booked the best price I could find in downtown.

The six year old Baltimore Marriott Waterfront has had some recent room renovations, since the Four Seasons and Hilton are building new hotels next door.

Service is usually the thing that makes or breaks most of my hotel and dining experiences. The front desk, concierge, bellman and room service were superior. The hotel public areas were beautifully appointed, clean and fully staffed.

During the business day, the hotel staff treated my wife with professional and friendly service. The concierge offered excellent assistance. The hotel swimming pool, fitness center and free use of the nearby MAC fitness club was wonderful.

The 28th - 32th floor rooms (seperate elevator) are the most newly renovated. Our 29th floor king bed room had marble topped sinks, a bed so comfortable that you did not want to get up, 32" flat screen TV, the most complete business center desk that I have ever used, and a sitting area with view of the East Inner Harbor.

Fantastic first class experience. This is the only place I will stay in Baltimore. Goodbye to the worn Inner Harbor hotels.

“Great hotel, great location!”

Baltimore Marriott Waterfront

28 Mar 2008

I stayed at the Marriott for a conference and got the conference rate of $209/night. From the BWI airport, it was a quick 25 minute drive via taxi. I was surprised at the lack of traffic at 5:30 pm. The check-in process was very smooth and I received a room on the 27th floor that has a great view. Of course, i checked out the bathroom first - they have Bath and Body Works amenities. I was disappointed that the maid service was stingy with refilling my bathroom amenities. (I save the toiletries for donations to a Juvenile Detention Center that my children's school sponsors). The bed was very comfortable and there were 3 big pillows and 3 small pillows. I felt like a pampered queen in the king sized bed. Even though construction was taking place, I hardly noticed it. The staff was very nice. The hotel's location is fantastic and they are really close to a lot of restaurants and stores (Filene's basement, Little Italy, ESPN Zone, PF Chang's, seafood restaurant, etc.

“Nice views, but noisy!”

Upon arrival we were told that our room was moved from the 22nd floor to the 17th floor. This should not have been an issue until the construction noise began at 9AM and was so loud that you could not hear the television over the drilling and hammering. According to other guests there was no noise on the upper floor. A call to the front desk left us more annoyed than before. Our request to speak to the manager was never fulfilled. A letter was on the desk at arrival informed us of the construction. This was the first we heard of this issue. This room should not have been sold, due to proximity to the construction. We were never offered a move or compensation. The views were great and the lobby was beautiful. A bit far from the convention center, but nice location to the inner harbor. The building of a four seasons next door will greatly reduce the views from this entire property. Overall, not bad, but a hotel of this reputation must be more responsive to quests and should not expect guests to tolerate this level of construction noise. This was not acceptable.

Stayed for a quick overnight. Beautiful hotel with nice size room and incredible view. Parking was a bit over the top at $21 on a weekend. This is Baltimore, not Manhattan, folks. Overall, it was a great stay.

We stayed at the Marriott Waterfront from February 29 through March 2. I felt as though the staff had just completed super service training or something -- every single person we encountered greeted us and asked what he/she could do for us. It was so completely consistent across every employee we encountered. The location can't be beat, which is especially super if you have kids. Our toddlers were treated like celebrities and loved it.

The only complaints we had -- the pool water seemed a bit dirty/slimy to us ... valet parking was a fortune at $36 ... pricey in-room movies for children ($13.99 a pop) .... no "fun" for kids on the room service menu (no sundaes, no popcorn, etc.) We could get over all of these for what we payed via Priceline, however, if I paid more for my room, I would have been miffed.
