I liked the visit I had to Baltimore, since it was my first the seafood....amazing! The Mount Vernon was missing something though, little things. I could be nit picking but honestly when I stay at a hotel I don't expect to be calling the front desk for things that should have already been in my room. I had to call for a waste paper basket, a tub stopper, more towels after room service came and fixed my bed, an ice bucket. To me and my fiance these items should not have to be asked for.
The choice of TV channels were a bit stale aslo. The bed was comfortable, the room was a bit smaller than I'm used to and it had a connecting door which made me nervous lol. The place is still undergoing renovation but I believe they were almost done. I don't think I will stay here again.

Jo, the Bronx!

This hotel has undergone a major renovation and is clean and NEW.

We read the reviews, but wanted to stay near the museums so we gave it a try. Our travel agent said it was renovated and she was correct.

Bonnie is the new manager and she is a classy lady. She greeted us upon check in and explained the changes the hotel has undergone.

Anyway, I am sure the past reviews were accurate, but this place is REALLY NICE!!

We stayed here a few months back and enjoyed our visit. But what a difference in this place...and for the BETTER!

We noticed signs of renovations upon entering the lobby...new tile, new carpets and furniture too. The desk staff explained that we were going to be in one of the newly renovated rooms and to let us know if we had any suggestions to improve our stay.

Anyway, everything was new in our room and beautiful. The hallway on our floor was bright and also newly renovated.

We very much enjoyed upgraded rooms and clean feel at this hotel.
Thanks

“Mt. Vernon Hotel - Worst Hotel Experience Ever”

I brought my family to Baltimore and wanted to stay at a moderately priced hotel that was close to downtowm. We picked Mt. Vernon because it looked like it had character and charm. We knew it wasn't new, but that's OK.

What we didn't expect was the roach problem in our rom that completely
spooked my wife and kids. We counted at least six different roaches. When we complained they told us to write a letter to the ownership (which we did and got no response).

And using the bathrooms were quite an experience. We had some sewage backup when we arrived and asked for a change of room. They refused that request and instead sent up a third-rate maintenence man. He roto-rootered the prblem out, but it left the room smelling very bad. Later that evening the same problem re-surfaced. Again we complained and asked for a change of rooms and again they refused. I asked to speak with the manager and was told he was busy and to check back in the next day. I asked to make an appointment with him and he laughed and saif that wasn't possible.

“terrrible reviews are true”

Mount Vernon Hotel

21 Jan 2008

We were more or less assigned to this hotel as part of a soccer tournament.... I had read previous negative reviews and hoped they were not accurate. I was wrong! We actually checked in to learn that our "loft" room had no beds in the loft...in fact the sleeping loft was empty. A bedside light had no bulb and when we asked for one, the man who was to bring it asked to check the lamp himself. Carpets were dirty, beds were saggy and the total atmosphere was dismal almost frightening. They had no other room with the correct number of beds that they could offer us...but staying was not what we wanted to do.
The only good thing was that we had no problem finding another hotel and the front desk did not hassle us about leaving. Assured us that our credit card would not be charged. We were not the only family who left so perhaps they are used to this.
