Dinner last night at Dalesio's was out of this world! Went with a hungry group of 4. Fresh mozzarella with tomatoes and artichoke hearts and plenty of tasty garlic bread to sop up the olive oil got passed around the table along with an order of calamari that was tender inside and crunchy outside served with marinara on the side. The penne with a veal bolognese was so good, it's ruined all other meat sauces for me. My Veal Franchaise (recommended by our charming waiter) was the best I've ever had - a delicate sauce over breaded veal that melted in my mouth like butter.
Onto desserts - what to choose??? The creme brulee was excellent, but the flan was truly over the top. Rich and delicious. The waitstaff was helpful, unobtrusive and kept our glasses (be they water or wine) filled. When two of our group asked to have dishes cooked to order, they were more than happy to comply. Elegant atmosphere.
At the end of the evening, everyone agreed - we need to return. I want to try out that Umbria Salad, and we're all looking forward to working our way through the entire dessert cart!
