My husband, friend, and I went to Grille 700 during Baltimore Restaurant Week - for lunch you can order an appetizer, entree, and dessert from a set menu for $20. We have been to many restaurants around the Baltimore and DC area during previous Restaurant Weeks and we've had a few good meals, a few great meals, and a few amazing meals. We have never had a truly horrible meal until today. I ordered the corn and crab "award winning" chowder. It was relatively tasteless, more potatoes than corn or crab. The small taste it had was bacon...again, not crab or corn. My husband and friend both had the Grill 700 salads as their appetizers and they may have been the highlight of the meal - not amazing but nothing wrong with them other then the fact they asked for dressing on the side and the dressing came on the salad. For the entrees my friend and I both ordered the crab cake sandwiches. I was born and raised in Baltimore and can be a bit picky about my crab cakes but this truly was the WORST crab cake either of us have even had. I literally had two bites (I only had the second bite because I really didn't believe that the first bite could be THAT bad...it was). It looked good but what "sauce" was used to bind the crab cake was really disgusting. My friend had about 3 bites and couldn't eat any more. My husband had the hamburger which was nothing special but I wish I would have gotten it because the crab cake was amazingly bad. The french fries were decent, thin and crispy, but again, that's the best I could say. The desserts came out. I got the tiramisu (as did my husband) and both were frozen solid. So not only were the desserts not fresh, they were not even thawed. I couldn't even use a knife to cut through it. Our friend got the angel food cake with fresh berries and raspberry sauce but even though the berries were good, the angel food cake was stale and like sandpaper. The only redeeming part about dessert is there was a "chocolate stick" on top that I got to eat and was tasty. All in all I was annoyed that I had to spend $25 on a really horrible meal. I left feeling sick and very hungry and I would never, ever, ever go there again, even if I was offered a free meal.
