I'm actually still in the room, but had to write this review while it was still in my head. I'm in customer service and travel a bit (especially lately) for my job. Therefore, I think I have higher expectations for service professionals than most. Everything the other reviews say about the good location, ample parking and proximity to the airport is correct. However, the thing that stands out in my mind is the service.
Here's the rundown.... I showed up at 10 am for a 3 pm check-in and was greeted with a smile and "of course we can check you in early". I asked for a recommendation for dinner and the staff member told me her favorite two places and gave me written directions to both. I didn't have to ask for directions, she took it upon herself to provide them without hesitation. Now, someone not interested in really helping me or just interested in towing the company line could've easily referred me to the in-house bar and grill (which isn't bad actually).
The next day I was returning after a rather difficult evening of getting quite lost and roaming around Baltimore for 2.5 hours. I was beyond frustrated and I really needed to make some copies for the next day. I asked if they had a business center. The girl behind the counter (Tia) said yes, but then added... "How many copies do you need?". I only needed 10 sets of 6. She then said, "I'll do them for you back in the office, this machine is faster". In the meantime the other girl (April) made pleasant conversation with me and I watched her interactions with one customer in person and another on the phone. She showed genuine concern for the customers' needs. Upon finding out that I had gotten so lost and needing to find an office building downtown in the morning, Tia took the address of the building and printed out Mapquest directions for me. She then reviewed the directions and added her own spin (being a local) including some landmarks. This was SO helpful and above and beyond.
I've had great experience with the Room Service staff. They guarantee your order within 30 minutes or it's free. The staff are courteous and call you by name. In short, the facility is newly renovated and it shows, it is very close to the airport (actually on the grounds), and the ammenities are good. However, when it boils down to it the personalized, genuinely good old fashioned service is what will bring me back here again.
