I need to comment on our recent hotel stay at the Tremont Park Hotel in Baltimore. My first comment is I would immediately stop recommending this hotel. First of all it is old and dated and in terrible condition. The sinks were coming off the walls. The bed linens were old and some were ripped. The a/c was not working. My husband went down to the front desk to let them know and the girl working the 3-11 shift told him to OPEN THE WINDOWS! My husband told her that was not an option. We were on the 8TH FLOOR and we had our 3 children, 9 years old and younger! She told him she would contact maintenance. We waited upstairs for an hour and 2 men from maintenance men came. They determined that the a/c was broke and they would need to get parts. We closed all the curtains to keep the sun out and the room cool but the curtains were not room darkening and they were coming off the rods. We went out for a couple hours and came back the a/c was still not working. I called the front desk and the same girl from earlier tells me that maintenance told her that nothing was wrong with the a/c? I told her it was still broke and the men had told us they had to get parts. I told her that we could not stay in the room, it was too hot. She said she would call maintenance again and find out what was going on and have them call me back. One of the men called back and spoke to my husband and he told my husband that they were trying to find parts. My husband asked them to please call the front desk and tell them this so they will get us another room. Where was the communication here? We were gone for 2 hours and the front desk claims they didn't know anything was wrong and we have to have maintenance vouch for us that the a/c was indeed broken! The girl called back and told us that we could move to another room. So we get all of our things together and move to another room which was only mildly better.

The next day we get ready to go to the ball game and we call downstairs for the shuttle and were told that they are only running the shuttle to John Hopkins Hospital. I ask for the mananger and tell him I'm very upset by this. He tells me that the shuttle is a courtesy and not guaranteed. I told him I understood that but they were RUNNING a shuttle but they were picking and choosing were they were going to go. It was 3 hours before the game and it wasn't like there was this big rush of people trying to get to the ballpark. The manger said he would get us a ride but we would have to go to John Hopkins first and any other stops in between before we would be dropped off. We go downstairs and go onto the bus that has just come from the sister hotel(Tremont Plaza) and it's all RedSox fans! I asked if anyone wwas going to John Hopkins and they look at me like I'm crazy. I obviously knew they were going to the ballpark but we had to complain in order to get a ride and they were obviously already going!

I use Expedia for all my travelling and I've never had an experience like this. I hope you will stop offering the Tremont Park Hotel. The girl on the 3-11 shift both nights we stayed demonstrated poor cusomer service. The hotel is old and outdated and not worth the money we paid.
The only pleasant and helpful person was the concierge!

Don't take the elevator or a shower (the hot water flow is unpredictable). Beware of the $20/night charge for parking. The fitness center is small but surprisingly updated. The floor in our room was crooked and creaked. The bathroom needed renovation. If you want to eat at the restaurant, it will take some time before someone notices that you're there. We didn't have problems with the staff, but I thought it was odd that the same guy parked my car and served my oatmeal.

This property is old and tired. The room decor is thrift store finds.
This is not where I want to rest my head after a busy travel day.
As bad as the room decor was, the hotel staff was the worst. Only the valet seemed to have had some type of customer service training, the others were just clueless.
I stayed one night and checked into the Tremont Plaza which is right around the corner the next night. What a huge difference that was; a bright , clean room and courteous staff.

We weren't expecting much for the price but I was pleased by the cleanliness of the room and the friendliness of the staff. The decor was kinda tacky. I didn't utilize the amenities such as the shuttle, restaurant or lounge, but I asked the woman at the front desk to make sure we had a cab to go back to the airport the next day and sure enough, it was right on time. I loved the Mount Vernon neighborhood that the hotel is situated in. There is a great little Irish pub right around the corner called Mick O'Shea's that I highly recommend. It was a solid mile to oriole park and the inner harbor, but worth the walk. i wouldn't recommend straying too far from the hotel or Charles street at night. That neighborhood was OK but sketchy areas were just blocks away.
