The Pirates House is an interesting piece of savannah history. You should visit but bring a brown bag lunch. If you are looking for good food there are a ton of options, but this is not a place to eat a great meal. It is fine for a cocktail and relaxing.

I am in Nashville, I recommend that visitng friends should go to Tottsies Orchid Lounge - like the Pirates House it is part of the local history - but you would not go for the food. Think Pat OBriens in New Orleans.

Living on its past reputation. Now herding tourist with mediocre food. Wish they would take cusine seriously,

We went to The Pirate's House because we have a daughter who is obsessed with all things pirates, and expected the kind of food you get in places heavy on history/themes.

The food was just terrific - so good, in fact, that we went back the next night and ordered the same dishes.

The New York strip was of excellent quality both nights. The salads were fresh. The French Fries were actually french fries (not the horrible seasoned variety you get in some places). Even the house Pinot was extremely drinkable.

Some other folks staying at our hotel offered up reviews similar to some of the others here but after we challenged them they admitted they didn't really focus on the food.

This place is much better than it needs to be - and so good it's the first place we'd eat (after the fabulously mind-blowing Wilkes House) on a return visit.

Extremely long, long wait for our food. Portion size was decent. Food was actually pretty good, but then again I was starving by the time I was served so that may have affected my judgment. Somewhat pricey relative to the overall quality of the food. The guy dressed in the pirate outfit was annoying and tried repeatedly to "hit on" a teenage member of our party who was there with her mother...tacky and embarrassing for everyone involved.

I would likely try someplace else for seafood in Savannah. This place seems geared toward tourists who perhaps get a kick out of the fact that it's a historic building and maybe a few pirates hung out there a couple of hundred years ago. Ho-hum...typical tourist stuff.

When I was a kid, I went here all the time. That was years ago, and it's a shame because I had such fond memories. I made reservations here for the first time in about 12+ years. Awful. We were seated next to the dish room (piled high with dishes and servers chit chatting), in a very small cramped hallway. Requested to be moved (it was my fiance's first time there, and we wanted to sit with a better view of the house). They said they couldn't move us, even though it was a Saturday evening and the entire restaurant was completely empty! Waited 15 minutes to see our server, so we ordered our drinks and entrees at the same time. Served out drinks and bread promptly, but before we could even butter our bread our entrees came out. To me, that's rude. Did not even take one bite of our entree until the server came back with the check saying "I'll take this when you're ready". Umm, ok, we haven't even tasted our food and you're giving us the check? Very poor service. Guess dessert was off the menu. Never came back to check us for refills or ask how anything was. Began clearing plates before we were even done with our food. We were in and out within 30 minutes for dinner. We felt very rushed and were displeased with the service. Food was ok. The Pirates House was by far the worst meal of our trip.

We had not eaten at this restaurant in over 30 years. The day we visited it was loaded with tourist and it seemed like the buses never stopped. It is an interesting place to vist but don't expect food out of this world. The day we were there they were serving a buffet which contained a very limited number of items. Even those items were not special. Looking at the menu we were not excited about anything we saw. Expect "tourist prices". Service was not bad but it was not outstanding. Just too many tourist packed into a small room and food quickly prepared to serve the masses.
