Each year, I attend a conference in Savannah and bring a small group (10-20) to the Pirate House for dinner. The groups have praised the food, the service, and the experience every year except one year when we were placed too close to a "business meeting" room and we were too loud - good food, good fun, but the business group didn't appreciate it. The entrees and appetizers are wonderful. In some years, I ordered only the fried green tomatoe and shrimp (I think) appetizer and it was great. My favorite - pecan crusted salmon --- so very good that I shared it with many at my table (haven't tried the award winning chicken pecan, but I am sure it is just as wonderful)! Portions are VERY large and wait staff didn't blink when I advised last group not to order shrimp pasta as a single dish, but to share it. Service has always been excellent and you just can't beat this "ambiance", if you are looking for a pirate feel while here. It is a historic building and gives you "goose bumps". Only once, in all these years, was food not satisfactory (early dinner hours). I requested the side dish be sent back and the waitperson/cook was prompt in correcting the situation. Note = I have also brought my son (11) to dine here in the evening - a menu met his needs. I wouldn't recommend bringing young children in the evening. However, there is a great lunch menu (buffet) and a much more relaxed feeling during the day - a good choice for parents of small children. Thanks "Pirate House" for continuing to provide us all a great experience! (Professor, University of West Georgia)
