We were coming to Savannah for the first time, and seen the website of Oglethorpe Inn & Suites, and liked the look of the hotel. We decided that we would stay three nights. Even though it was not in the historic district it was still easy to get to, and it was in a good neighborhood. The Oglethorpe Mall is just on down the street, which was nice. The rooms was very clean, and large. The wireless internet was great. We liked the look of the hotel, it has a Ole' England charm. We were on the third floor, and the railing on the balcony was gorgeous. We really liked our stay and would go back again, if we were ever in Savannah.
This has to be the quietest hotel we have ever stayed in...we booked a two room suite which was quite clean and comfortable...continental breakfast was more than adequate...only problem we saw was a non-operating remote on one of the TVs (no big deal) ...no slamming doors, no flushing toilets, no yelling outside (or inside) at all hours and most rooms were full. Restaurants closeby, major mall just up the street. Desk and service staff very polite and accomodating. We were here for a business meeting that we could walk to.
We would recommend this hotel to most anyone.
The hotel room was great. We stayed from the 10 of Feb to the 12 and loved the room. The night desk people were awful. We saw a couple banging on the desk for over 10 minutes trying to get assistance, and we actually had to find the desk people (who were obviously ignoring the couple) and tell them somebody was trying to get their attention. We left the do not disturb sign on the door to keep out room service the whole time we were there (probably the best idea ever). So we checked out (day shift is great, no complaints there) and got home and realized on of our bags had been left behind. We called the hotel and they shipped it straight over, no problem. Except when we got the bag anyway. Looked in the bag (that was in a nice sturdy box, thanks UPS) and saw a couple of things were broken and the most expensive thing in the bag (a pair of duel diamond earings) were missing. Big supprise. So long story short, keep your valuables locked up and don't let staff in the room while your not there, and maybe if you see one of the staff wearing duel diamond earings you might just know where they came from...
We stayed here the weekend of 11/11/2006. It was perfect for us! We visited historic downtown, Tybee Island, and Bass Pro Shops. This hotel was in a perfect location. Nice area. Very clean. Has a French Quarter look and feel. Staff was very friendly and accomodating to our needs. The wireless internet was very good as well.
