The Doubletree is located on the edge of the Savannah historic district ... on the corner of Bay & MLK. It is an easy walk to the main tourist and restaurant area including River Street, the City Market, Broughton Street and many of the squares.

Although there were signs posted regarding ongoing renovation, we did not see any work going on. The lobby opens to a sitting area with couches and such. Valet parking is a must ($15) and the bell staff were abundant and friendly.

The room was clean and the bed very comfortable. The AC is one of those separate, by the window, units that is not climate controlled. The bathroom was small and the tub / shower was very slippery.

The workout facility had only a few machines and the pool outside was small.

The restaurant (John Ryan's Bistro) had a buffet breakfast (it was fair in quality) and a full dinner menu. There was a small bar just outside the restaurant.We only ate there for breakfast but the dinner menu surprised me with a $30 filet. For $32, you can get a filet at 700 Drayton ... which is one of the best restaurants I have ever ate in. With all the good dining choices close, there really is no need to eat in the hotel.

The staff was especially friendly throughout the property.

If you are just looking for a comfortable place to stay in Savannah (or, as we were, staying with Hilton Honor points) this is a good option. However, the Hyatt and the Westin (across the river) would be a nice step up.

We loved the DoubleTee Hotel in Savannah. The location was very convenient and the hotel was beautiful. The room was very large, clean, and nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable. The only negatives were that the bathroom door lock was broken and the room did not have a hair dryer. We arrived early and the housekeeping staff quickly got our room ready for us. We received warm chocolate chip cookies when we arrived and there was lemonade available in the hallway. The business center only had two PCs and a printer but they were always available when I needed them. Parking is valet only for $15 per day.

we stayed 2 nights in Savannah and stayed here one of them. our first night was at the Mulberry Inn which was more expensive and not as nice, clean or friendly.

the Double tree staff was very nice and accomadating. they DID make a mistake and gave our room to someone else, but tried very hard to make up for it by giving us another room at a significant discount, as well as free valet parking, free breakfast and a cookie. i was still upset about the mistake but at least they TRIED to fix it.

we really enjoyed our stay there.

Our room wasn't ready at check in as we arrived early. The person at the front desk was helpful in giving us some information about the area (as it was our first time in Savannah). As others have mentioned, the hotel is close to many places in the historic distric.

Our room was availabe a short time later. It was a decent sized room with two queen beds for our family. We did have to ask for a small fridge to be brought up to the room. In the business office, there were 2 computers which were convenient. Wireless access was available in the rooms, but connectivity was horrible.

The pool was closed for cleaning during our stay. That was a bummer, but my daughters were able to use the pool across the street at their sister hotel (Garden Inn). Inconvenient to say the least, but the kids got to swim on a warm day.

We did eat breakfast at the buffett on the first floor. Pricey for breakfast, but it was a buffett w/ a very good selection (omelets if you wanted). Went to another breakfast place nearby the next morning...seemed just as expensive for less food, so I guess it wasn't that bad after all.

The concierge was great. Can't remember his name, but he was actually from our neck of the woods in Northern California so we had a lot to talk about. He booked a trolley tour for us. We were picked up at the hotel and taken to the trolley location.

Everyone at the hotel was extra friendly. A few even used my name on a regular basis. One thing to be aware of are the taxi's that are called by the valets. Used one to avoid a downpore as we were going on a night tour and didn't want to walk the few blocks. Never used the meter, tried to tell me he was giving me a good deal, but it seemed pricey for such a short ride.

Overall it was a good stay. I'd stay there again.
