Stayed here for one night when unable to get out of the Savannah Airport due to weather conditions. The shuttle service to and from the airport was much appreciated. The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Great room for the price. Would definitely stay here again if in the area.

We picked this hotel because we were traveling on business and needed the wireless internet access.

First, let me state that the hotel staff was exceptionally courteous. They consisted of the nicest group of people I have ever spoken to at a hotel.

Unfortunately, the kindness of the staff could not resolve some of our problems.

First, the wireless internet was extremely slow. So slow in fact, that we tapped into the telephone and had a faster connection using dial-up and a 56k modem.

The manager said the rooms all had Ethernet ports, but regrettably, they were not working. The technician was going to be there on Monday to look into it.

Next, the way the curtains closed off the windows did not shut out the light. Our room overlooked the front of the property. The bright lights from outside could not be blocked out as the curtains allowed light in from the sides. It was so bright, you could read by that light -- even in the middle of the night.

Again, the front desk staff was very nice and gave me extra blankets to hang off the window box to block the light.

The free breakfast was not good. Unlike the Hampton or Homewood Suites hotels, the "free breakfast" at the Hawthorn Suites Savannah was nasty. Even the coffee tasted bad. The bread was nothing but plain white or wheat. No rolls. Pastries were cheap imitation cinnamon buns. The sausage was heart-attack special, scrambled eggs were undercooked, and the yogurt was an unidentified brand. In all fairness, the hash-brown's were okay and there were supposed to be hot butter croissants but the place was busy and they must have run out.

The rooms have kitchenette's, but there are no plates, glasses, forks etc. There is a sign that says you have to go to the front desk to ask for these items. Sometimes you want a glass of water in the middle of the night and getting dressed to go to the front desk is too much of an effort.

Lastly, the neighborhood where he hotel resides is awful. It may be a good place to stop if you need a hotel near I-95, but if you plan to visit Savannah and be there a few days, go elsewhere! There are no decent restaurants near this hotel. No Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. No place to get a decent cup of coffee! Not even the hotel itself. Just a WalMart -- and a dirty one at that!

We stayed in the Hawthorn Suites at Savannah at the end of a 16 day trip that had taken us from NYC to MyrtleBeach then Hilton Head Island then finally Savannah for a flight home. We found the one bedroom suite to be ideal for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The hotel is new and everthing is squeaky clean. Huge TV screen in bedroom was a winner with the kids who would have stayed in all day watching it. However even if you are only staying here to catch a flight the next day or to break a journey ,try to take a trip into Savanna if you have time. It is a beautiful city ,with real history, and the trolley bus tour lets you see the sights in 2 hours.

I booked this hotel for a short stay in Savannah on the basis of the tripadvisor reviews and was not disappointed. Good sized room in good condition. Great value compared with staying in historic downtown area. Drive in via I95 and I16 (15 miles each way but very simple) and park in the visitor centre car park for up to $8 a day. Breakfast OK , much what I was expecting from the reviews. No problems with noise and we were on the ground floor.
