This is a very nice property in a very safe and nice area with easy access off the Interstate, but next time I think I would check out one of the other hotels along the same road as there are many of them. (Looks like they are building a brand new Comfort Suites across the street.) This was on the higher price end of the hotels we stopped at for a night on a road trip at $107 so I expected a bit more. The room was spacious, but not as spotlessly clean as others and did have a good size red stain on the carpet. The breakfast was the most extensive with biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, and the regular selection of cold items such as cereal and pastries, but the quality of the hot food was really not good. The eggs were clearly a powdered mix and uneatable to us. The gravy was pretty tasteless and everything in general was not as hot as it should have been. The front desk staff was extremely polite and friendly, though I did run into a cleaning person in the morning who was fairly crabby.

We recently moved a family member to Miami. I used trip advisor to find safe and clean places to stay. I am so glad I did. This hotel had rave reviews - and it deserves them. From the start things went well. We arrived early (11AM) and everyone was tired. The front desk was very kind and said as soon as a room was available we could check in. We relaxed in their very nice, clean, spacious dining area/lounge and we were allowed to check in at 1PM. We had a very nice rest. The room was large, clean and comfortable. The pool was exceptionally clean and pleasant.
The morning breakfast was great.
Most of the credit for the pleasant stay has to go to the wonderful staff

“Clean hotel with some nice perks, but with paper-thin walls between rooms.”

Part of the thrust of the Hawthorn Suites chain is to cater to the extended-stay traveller, and as such, they offer some great benefits which the short or long-term client can take advantage of. This particular hotel, which is located virtually next to the Savannah airport had hot breakfasts included in the room rate, a barbeque outside, on-site laundry, free internet access in the business room, free long distance phone calls within the country, etc, and all for a reasonable price. The hotel is about 3 years old, and the public areas and suites are kept impeccably clean. The staff were always helpful, gracious, and very polite.

Sounds great doesn't it? It would be, except that there is minimal soundproofing between the rooms, so, we were awakened at 3:45 am two nights in a row by the sound of someone walking around above us and then taking a shower; television sounds carried through the walls, at an equally late hour. We could overhear a 5 am phone conversation - not just muffled sounds, but could make out the words. As well, we were, without wanting to be, privy to an intimate interaction between a couple in the room next to us.

Unfortunately the longer term travellers are assigned the top floor corner suites, which may be quieter. The hotel was also quite full during our stay so the option of moving to a more desirable location in the building was somewhat limited. It may have been our unfortunate luck as to whom our neighbors were at this hotel, but beware, it may be the luck of the draw for you too.

My husband and I and our grandson stayed here for two nights. We had travelled from Charleston and were leaving from the Savannah airport to go home, so we decided to stay here since it was close. We arrived a little earlier than checkin time, but they found us a non-smoking room on the second floor. I believe all of these room are suites. The room was large and clean. The front part of the room had a chair, love seat, coffee table, TV, desk and desk chair. There is a small kitchen area with microwave and frig, both of which looked pretty new. The bathroom was clean and had been stocked with all the little goodies. There is a coffee maker and hair dryer. The bedroom part had two queen beds, closet, TV and night stand. There wasn't much drawer space--just one small dresser that the TV was sitting on. The carpet was clean. The breakfast was pretty good. It is a buffet with hot food and cold food. I would say the only drawback was that we could hear water running from above and someone above us had very heavy feet! Oh, also since it's near the airport, don't be surprised by an early morning flight over the motel.

I was extremely pleased with this hotel. We were referred from the Extended Stay who had overbooked, and boy were we pleasantly suprised. The front desk was very nice to us even though we were transplants. The first thing we noticed was how well the lobby and the halls were decorated (very classy). Walking into our room we were shocked by how big it was. The bathroom was the size of some hotel rooms I've been in. The bedroom had a full door that you could close for some extra quiet. Our room was very clean and everything felt new. The halls, lobby, and room all smelled great. The bed was quite comfortable (cant' say the same for the sofa, but what do you expect). But there was a large reclining desk chair in our room that was more comfy than any of the other seating. The breakfast was one of the best complimentary breakfasts I've ever had at a hotel. The staff always said hello and were kind. There was some construction going on nextdoor, but the walls are quite soundproof and it didn't turn out to be a problem. There is a typical suburban shopping center a mile down the street that includes Arbys, Chic-fil-A, Ruby Tuesday, and a Super-Walmart (so basically everything you could need is right there). The drive into the historic district is a bit long (about 20 mins) but definatley worth it for the quality, and price of this hotel! A++
