If you travel to Savannah, don't buy the line you've got to stay near the historic downtown area. And DON'T stay at the Gateway Inn on 11520 Abercorn (Hwy 204) near the shopping malls.
Bad points: Shower head broken, didn't stay up; no one there to fix it. No towel rack and no toilet paper holder - both broken. Hair in the sink and tub, and lots more on the floor. Walls had rusty patches from previous repairs. Bath tub / shower stall dirty and scummy. The floors / carpets were dirty as evidenced by the dirt on my socks after walking just a few trips to the car and back unloading...
Good points: Easy access to the main drag for a fast escape!
This was supposed to a non-smoking room, but it stunk like a dingy bar. It was also supposed to have a small fridge. No dice. It was also supposed to have a pool. Oh, they had an outdoor pool, but it wouldn't be available for at least another month! (I guess I should have specified a working, usable pool).
I was sold a piece of junk, and I hope to be reimbursed for the bill of lies I was sold...
This trip was pre-arranged thru Hotels and I was locked into staying at least 1 night. I recommend getting an "Out Clause" if you're sold a nightmare. Not sure if Hotels offers such a clause... :( -tc
