My husband and I loved this wonderful B&B. Delicious full breakfast daily, beautiful furnishings, top notch service and excellent location. Couldn't have asked for nicer hosts either. Thanks for a perfect Savannah experience Ed and Bob!

We stayed with Ed and Bob for 2 nights over July 4th and would happily haved stayed 'till next July 4th. We wanted to give this review 6 out of 5 but 5 will have to do! You can save on a trip to the art galleries as Ed and Bob have all the art you need. The whole house is beautifully appointed, the lounge area on the 2nd floor was great for relaxing, where we were able to chat with our fellow guests and learn more about the real America. The hospitality was beyond excellent, a gourmet breakfast, cheese and wine at 5.00pm and the lemon cake for supper even had Susan giving up her diet.
Ed's help with sight seeing info and restaurant booking made our trip all the more memorable.
Ed and Bob have made the 1895 something very special.

My wife and I just returned from celebrating our 20th anniversary at the 1895 Inn, and I must say that my only disappointment is that all the good superlatives have already been used in previous reviews! The Inn is stunningly beautiful, but from the moment you arrive you're made to feel at home. Ed and Bob are instant friends, and they work tirelessly to make your stay perfect. Ed creates breakfasts worthy of a gourmet restaurant, served on fine china in an elegant dining room. Sound too stuffy and high-brow? Not when you've already been casually standing around the kitchen beforehand, enjoying your coffee and talking and laughing with Ed and Bob and the other guests. Five o-clock wine and cheese is another chance to get Ed's and Bob's restaurant recommendations and talk about whatever. When you come back from your night's events, go up to the media room and grab a piece of the delicious lemon cake that Ed put out for you. Mmmmmmmm! I'm sure there are other very fine B&B's in Savannah, but I doubt that there are any that offer more for your money than the 1895 Inn.

“The 1895 Inn - a Gracious Savannah House”

The 1895 Inn

My wife wanted to visit Savannah as the home town of "the book" and I found this inn topped the list of recommendations. It well merits its accolades. It is a must for anyone who wants to see and live in one of the classic Savannah houses, although the richness and value of the pictures and furniture are a little overwhelming, if not actually frightening! But Ed is the perfect host, a wonderful cook (everything people say about those legendary breakfasts is quite true). He also has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the town and can advise on good places to see and visit. And finally, his end of the afternoon wine and cheese gatherings are an excellent opportunity to mix with other guests and recharge the batteries before going out for the evening. Highly recommended.

    • Disliked — It was a little like living in a museum, which (although wonderful) occasionally detracted from the comfort

We stayed at the 1895 during our trip from Miami to Niagara and we can safely say that this was the best out of all the 12 hotels/inns we booked. Ed is the perfect host, his attention to detail excellent and his helpful attitude unbeatable. It really was like staying at a friends house - a friend who is glad to see you !
Breakfast is first class and the option of sharing a glass of wine with fellow guests in the early evening an inspired touch. By far the best stay on our 3,000 mile most enjoyable journey. Because of this we will never forget the 1895 or Savannah (which incidentally we preferred to Charleston).
