“A hotel with great character”

What a terrfic hotel. Reputation for outstanding customer service is well deserved. Can't beat the location right on Forsyth Park. Jazz fest was underway while I stayed which only added to the special nature of the hotel. If you are looking for a cookie-cutter hotel and service, don't book the Mansion on Forsyth Park, but if you are looking for a hotel with character and slightly eclectic style this is your place.

“Comfortable Rooms, Noise Issues, Indifferent Service”

Stayed here from October 6 through the 9th. Checked in on a Saturday afternoon with lobby and pool area being set up for a wedding. Common areas and rooms are decorated in an over the top style with modern art work. Rooms are large and comfortable. We were given a room overlooking the air conditioning units for the hotel but we decided that it wasn't a big deal as we would be out exploring the city most of the day. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk to the river. The beds were very comfortable, the bath large with and oversize soaking tub and separate shower. Now for the problems. Awoken on Saturday night after a long day of sightseeing at 3am to noise, voices and music from the room next store and doors slamming in the hallway. We called the front desk to alert them of the problem and the desk clerk told us that he would take care of the probelm. It took 4 more calls, 2 hours and 5am before security finally was sent up to stop the party. We assumed that the problem guests would be gone that next night. Once again the party started the next night at 2am and we had to again make repeated calls to the front desk. Apparently we had been put on a floor with a group in a wedding that was being held at the hotel. The hotel did give us a $100 credit for one night but refused any additonal compensation for the second night of problems. A manager was unavailable at checkout to discuss our problems and were were told that a a manager would call us before any charges would be processed to our credit card. No one ever called and they processed the charges as is. This hotel is focused on making money from weddings and could care less about the comfort of other guests. If you are not in town to attend a wedding at this hotel, stay elsewhere.

We stayed here last weekend and what a find. Beautiful place to stay and the food at 700 Drayton was the best I have ever had! anywhere in the world!
The room was huge and the bath was lovely, particularly the fact that you could open the doors and talk to each other form thr bath to the bed!
The staff were great and they could not do enough for you. Would most definetly stay here again. Superberb!

“Deeply Disappointed”

Perhaps I've been pampered a bit too much but the staff at the Mansion seems to have confused haughty with good service. A disdainful front desk clerk proceeded to treat us as inferiors simply because we were muddy. It was pouring rain and we had had a flat tire at 10:30 pm. It was now midnight and we were exhausted. Rather than realizing we would need extra attention he stared us down and asked with a sniff if we could refrain from getting mud on the lobby floor. As an after thought...we had already gotten our own bags in, he asked if we would need help with our luggage. The hotel is also in a transitional neighborhood and we were approached twice by different crack addicts. They were identified as such by a security guard that worked at the Kroger two blocks away.
Housekeeping, while sweet, did a poor job of tidying up. An empty coke can was left on the counter instead of being thrown out and trash cans went without being emptied but nothing major was left unattended.
The decor was ghastly and my husband dubbed it "Liberace-esque". I don't mind artwork with erotic overtones but would prefer they not be so prominantly displayed. The rooms and linens were top quality but tacky and the red velvet curtains just contributed to the overall garishness of the place.
The shuttle service was two hours late picking us up from downtown and just shrugged when we asked why. It turns out that the pick up that was scheduled before us had cancelled so they just decided to let us wait until ...later, I guess.
To be fair, there were some bright spots. The food at 700 was superb and the waitstaff were consummate professionals. We were chilly and they moved us into another room in front of a fireplace and then lit it for us. I was both grateful and charmed. The spa staff was superior as were the services there. The art gallery there was very nice with some quality pieces in it. Forsyth park itself is lovely and provided a soothing view. When the price is added in to this equation I think your money is better spent on the Hyatt. I had badly needed some time away from our four children but the experience was not a restful one.

We were in Savannah for a wedding in early May of this year and decided to stay at the Mansion on Forsyth Park. It's in a beautiful location, directly accross from the park. It is a far, but a do-able walk to the water. It is basically outside of the main areas of town. It's well worth the walk/cab ride, as the hotel is absolutely gorgeous. In addition, the service was welcoming and excellent. They truely made us feel special! Our best dinner in town was our last night and breakfast from the adjoining restaurant. Excellent service and superb food! Definitely stay at the mansion if you can!
