We stayed for one night at this hotel. The receptionist were very friendly, the room confortable and very clean. However we were very disappointed about the little help we received when we forgot three shirts in the drawer of the room and called the same day of our departure. They promissed to call us which they didnt and when we called again we were once again told that they would check and call back. This time they did.. but only to inform us that our shirts had gone and that there was nothing more that they could do. Obviously there staff had found our shirts but did no report them. A hotel of this class cannot behave with such an indifference. Be careful!

I'm a meeting planner, so I look at all areas of hotels. I stayed at the Mansion twice - once in April to check the place out for a group meeting in June - then I booked the actual meeting in June. Both trips were amazing, and everything was well above exceptional. The property itself is like none other, decor is almost over the top, but in a wonderful way. Art collections and pieces are world reknown. The building is well kept, service and staff are perfect - helpful, but not overly fake or syrupy. They were at our beck and call when needed, but never hovered. Rooms are updated, comfy and very inviting - I wish I had more time to spend in them! Food was delicious, especially 700 Drayton - worth every single penny! I would eat there for every meal if I could (try the sea bass) - the chef is amazing - now on my top 10 restaurants! Make sure you walk around the restaurant and check out the bar updatirs with the balcony. It's a great place to sit and have drinks in the wonderful weather - and it overlooks Forsyth Park! The Cooking school is top notch, Chef Darrin is wondeful. The Spa is great - very relaxing and calming. Overall this is one of the best hotels I've stayed at in the US - the meeting facilities and staff were above par.

Just back from a mini-vacation to Savannah and a night at the Mansion on Forsyth Park. The staff is professional, friendly and very agreeable, excellent concierge, and the bed was incrediby comfortable. We were tempted to just lie in bed instead of walking the beautiful streets and squares of Savannah. We enjoyed the funky decor, and our room on the park side was just beautiful...southern gothic/rococo/little bit of bordello look...but we were, well, stupefied by the paintings in the hallways. We thought it was great that they were going for a look that contrasted modern art with the decor of a bygone day, except that the paintings were terrible! Not disturbing, not funny, not charming, just terrible! Other than that, we loved the place...even the little pool, which has water running all down the back tiles...very soothing. Spent a pleasant time in the upstairs bar listening to some gentle blues...but the paintings there were pretty awful, too!

Prior to my booking at “The Mansion on Forsyth Park”, in Savannah, GA, I called and spoke with the hotel and inquired about the amenities and location. I was told that the hotel was in a safe upscale area. As I got closer to the hotel I saw that the neighborhood was rapidly deteriorating.

I was greeted by a friendly doorman and valet. When I inquired about the safety of the neighborhood the two just looked at each other and told us that we should not walk more than one block from the hotel.

At check in, when I expressed my concern about the safety of the area I was informed by the front desk clerk that the hotel was in a “transitional area”. It is my guess that someone forgot to inform the homeless people across from the hotel that they were now in a “transitional area”.

This, however, was not the main concern. My biggest problems were with the room itself. When we arrived our room temperature was 62 degrees. We immediately turned the thermostat up to 72 degrees. After three hours the temperature was at 63. We called the front desk and they sent down an engineer who informed me that the temperature could not be adjusted because it was a water cooled system. My choices were 63 degrees or turn off the air handling system altogether. We chose to sleep in the 63 degrees, complete with a down comforter, IN JULY, no less. Even with the comforter we were still cold all night long.

Located directly outside (and I do mean directly) outside of our room was a swimming pool/lounge/courtyard, complete with tables and chairs less than 2 feet from our window. After a long day I went to sleep early and was awaken by loud music coming through my window. After an hour I called the front desk and they had the music turned down at about 10:30 pm but then I had to deal with the noise of people partying around the pool/courtyard. I eventually turned up the TV loud and finally drifted off to sleep.

The final insult came when I went to check out. The front desk attendant asked how my stay was. I informed her of my experience and her reply was simply that she was “sorry to hear that”. I was offended by her indifference, no make that impertinence.

I have stayed in hotels for over thirty years. I must admit that I am spoiled because I usually try to select a nice hotel. I can honestly say that my experience at the “Mansion on Forsyth Park” was the worst that I have had.

Excellent room and beautiful restored hotel located a short walk from downtown Savannah. We were here on a business meeting and everything was outstanding. We got to enjoy a special cooking class offered at the hotel and would highly recommend it as a wonderful learning and culinary experience.
