I recently travelled to Savannah, GA on a business trip. While I was there I went on a ghost tour through Sixth Sense Savannah Ghost Tours. From the beginning the company was very accommodating. I was fearful they would cancel my reservation, as some companies would, due to the low number of tourists in the area which was due to all the hurricanes at the time. Instead of cancelling me they went the extra mile and I got a one-on-one tour and it was fantastic! My tour guide was Dawn Laxton and I highly recommend her. She knows the area and the history of the area very well as she is a native Savannian. Dawn was very thorough in her tour and only crept me out a few times- mostly b/c I'm scared of my own shadow! :) The tour was informative, interesting and overall, fantastic. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is interested in the history of Savannah especially in regards to the people and the houses they lived in. I learned so many more "behind-the-scenes" stories than I would have gotten in the plain house tours. One other thing I wanted to mention was the fact that Dawn went out of her way and volunteered to drive me back to my hotel to be sure I got there safely. This was VERY generous and appreciated because I was nervous walking back in the dark, alone, in a strange city. Thank you, Dawn, for a great time and a great tour and for going out of your way.

Sincerely, Megan Knapp

My husband and I visited Savannah in September 2008. We loved the city and its rich history. We recently have become interested in the paranormal and thought it would be exciting to take a ghost tour of the most haunted city in the US. So, we got a selection of about 5-7 brouchures for haunted tours, read them all and found the one we thought was most interesting. The brochure said it was called "The Truthseeker's Tour"; we chose this one because it had a list of 8 different locations that sounded like places we would like to experience. So, I called and made reservations for the 7:30 tour, and was told to meet at Clary's Cafe (when the flyer said it started at Johnson Square).

When we arrived at Clary's Cafe we were greated by our tour guide, Dawn Laxton, and the other members of our tour. We had a small group (4 people and the guide), so we were pretty excited about the possibility of a personalized experience. The tour started with Dawn introducing us to herself, and giving us a little overview of what we would be seeing in the next two hours.

Once the actual tour began we spent about 1 hour and 15 minutes sitting on park benches listening to Dawn tell the stories of the haunted history of Savannah and about 45 minutes actually attempting to experience the paranormal. I will not complain about Dawn's stories, she has a vast knoledge of Savannah and its history, but I will complain about the actual tour stops. We went to three different houses on this tour. Two of which we walked around and looked in windows and mailslots using flashlights (and attemped to break into), and the third is occupied, so we just walked around it. The two that we looked into the windows and mailslots of Dawn also attempted to break into (saying the owners didn't mind) the first she was unsuccessful, and the second we were able to go into the basement of. Yes, it was exciting to go inside, but we felt it was very unprofessional telling us that she hoped they had forgot to lock it so we could sneak in.

Perhaps my expectations were to high, but I was disappointed. I expected to visit some if not all of the locations listed on the brochure, but we vistied none of them. When my husband asked Dawn about this she said that she mixes the tours up, so she goes to different locations with each tour. With 8 locations listed on the brochure, I can understand not going to all of them, but I would have expected to go to some of them. Also, I expected to be able to enter some of the locations (legally), and was disappointed that we could only peer through windows using flashlights.

Finally, we felt that some of Dawn's comments were unnecessary and strange. For example...we were in Monterey Square and she told us that it is said that animals do not like this square and sometimes refuse to walk accross it. As she was telling us this, there were two dogs coming from each direction, one of which the owner was trying to hold back and was not letting walk because it wanted to attack the other dog, seeing this Dawn commented that the dog does not seem to want to cross (when the dog wanted to cross, but the owner was not letting it). We were not buying into what she was selling.

To wrap up-we vacation a lot and love to travel and experience new things, but were very disappointed with this tour. It was not worth the money, and it did not give us what the brochure advertised. To be fair though, we have not gone on any other haunted city tours, so this may be par for the course???

“I Really enjoyed the America's Most Haunted City Tour”

I went on the America's Most Haunted City tour Sunday night with Adam. I (unlike some of the other reviewers) quite enjoyed his story telling, probably for the exact same reasons that the others didn't--the fact that his anecdotes were filled with personal accounts. I had already taken several ghost tours in Savannah & I wanted to hear something different from the usual oft-repeated stories of Renee the wolf man or Anna at the 1790 Inn & this tour delivered. The point of going on a ghost tour is not to hear absolute truths (we are talking ghost here, right?), but to be frightened & entertained (which I was). This all depends on the telling the story & how it's delivered & I was happy with the tour.

On Aug 6, 2008 our family took the "midnight walking tour". Wow! Our tour was amazing. My son-in-laws camera battery was drained after visiting one of the "haunted houses". He swears that it was fully charged before the tour started. While at the Col Wiley house there was a very unusual occurrence. Two persons had there camera's "fried". They were literally smoking. I saw them for myself. Our tour guide, Dawn Halverson is the very best I have ever had. Just had to share my experience. Many thanks, Jim Ersery

“The Real Deal...”

To me a great ghost tour will deal more in personal experiences, which this tour definately did. Our guide was fantastic, telling us about "real" experiences he has had. And if we had any personal experiences we were welcome to chime in. None of the fluff that goes along with all the other tours, no dress up, no spooky music etc. Just us walking in the night listening to real happenings. That, in my opinion, can be scarier than anything else.

Without a doubt we'll be back around to tour with them again.
