This hotel was very nice and the location was also very good. The room was nice and the bathroom beautiful! It can get a bit noisy with the traffic, so if that is bothersome to you, I suggest you ask for a room on the backside of the hotel. There are 4 other hotels in the vincinity and I would think they also have noise issues. The pool is shared with the hotel behind them. It looked nice and people were using it. We didn't go swimming, but we did check the temp of the water and it wasn't bad. Their staff and conceierge were nice and friendly. The breakfast could be better, but they had a decent variety of typical breakfast foods like breads, doughnuts, cereal, etc.. We would stay there again and I would recommend it to all!

The Promenade Hotel

10 May 2008

We had a good stay at the Promenade while in Savannah. The room was clean and looked new. Housekeeping was good as the rooms were clean and neat upon returning to our room after all day sightseeing. It was a little noisey, the girl next door decided to talk on her cell phone outside of the room late into the night , but it didn't keep us from sleeping, the air conditioner drowned out most of the noise, we sleep with a fan at home so the hum was right on for us. As for the location, it was nice to walk out of our room and be on the riverwalk within a few feet. And I did feel safe but there was beggers on the streets in Savannah so they move and could be anywhere so I couldn't hold that against the hotel. The breakfast could be better as far as the food served but the coffee was really good and was better than the one in the room you have to make. So overall we did have a good stay and we will stay again. By the way our room was on the second level on the back of the hotel, that may be why we did not have noise that might happen if you stay on the front by the busy road.

Savannah is a beautiful town. I did enjoy the sites. I stayed at The Promenade. The location of the hotel was fine. Traffic noise was very loud early in the morning. The bathroom was clean. There was ample storage. The room in general was clean, except that I had to call the front desk to let them know that the linen had not been changed from the previous guests. I also had an employee to walk into my room unannounced while I was in the bathroom. Housekeeping had already been there. Management has not apologized for this incident.

My mother and I stayed at the Promenade Hotel on Saturday night. I discovered the Promenade on the web while looking for places to stay in Savannah. The hotel's website said that this was an "unique hotel" and that the hotel has been renovated. It HAS been renovated but that is where the story ends. First of all this is not a hotel. It is a roadside inn with an exterior corridor to get to the rooms. The pictures on the website are VERY
misleading and give the impression that the "hotel" is in a tree shaded, quiet area. The actual pictures on the hotels' website are of Savannahs' historic disctrict 3 blocks away. The Promenade Hotel is located in fact on the busiest street in Savannah and therefore also the nosiest. It is not bad if you are interested in being close to all of the activity on the weekends. But if you are interested in getting a good night's sleep, forget it. There were people walking around the hotel drunk and disorderly, parties going on next door to and above our room and when the front desk was called, no one answered because as we found out later, management was out having cars towed away ( at 2:00 am). Security finally came and around 3:00 am things began to quiet down. I did speak with the assistant manager later the next morning who said that the Promenade employs 4 security guards and they were contacted to quiet the noise. Why a hotel of 89 rooms requires 4 security guards says it all.

I missed the free continental breakfast and was going to have coffee in room but changed my mind when I found that the coffee maker had coffee grounds leftover from the previous occupants
of my room.

Management said that Savannah tends to be a bit roudy on the weekends but on Sunday through Thursday the city goes back to being a quiet relaxing place to visit.
Management did the right thing and comped the night's stay and tried to get us to stay on Sunday night, but no amount of persuasion could make me want to go back to this place.

Savannah is a place to party on Friday and Saturday nights. The exterior corridors of this hotel make this a place for people to congregate and party and no amount of renovation can change that fact. If you want a relaxing, quiet place to stay especially on the weekends in Savannah try the Doubletree, Hyatt or the Hilton. The Promanade is more like a Best Western or a Rodeway Inn.

All construction work has finished, there is still some cosmetic work going on but there is no noise. I have also read that people complain about the traffic noise but unless you live in a sprawling private estate the noise will be no worse then home. I slept like a baby and heard nothing.

The rooms are fantastic, very roomy, king size bed, large bathroom and a microwave and fridge. Free wifi too which by the way is enabling me to write this review before I forget.

I paid $129 as a walk in and I have found nothing wrong here and lots of things good. Staff are excellent, continental breakfast was fine, free parking a bonus, close to the river and to downtown.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone who would rather spend their money on enjoying themselves rather then hotel facilities that you never end up using.

    • Disliked — As a motel on a busy street, people walking by chatting can be heard quite easily.
