We stayed at the Promenade for a quick overnight on Memorial Day weekend. The front desk staff was really pleasant, giving us pointers on nightlife and restaurants. We walked almost everywhere, to the riverfront, galleries and to Club One which is almost right across the street.

The traffic noise was a bit much but the room was immaculate and the bed was really comfortable.

We contacted the hotel directly and made reservations to arrive on May 31st. After reading the reviews on Trip Advisor we were a little worried about staying for three nights, so we had made reservations at the HI Express just in case. We arrived at the property around noon, and we asked to check in early. The young lady at the desk checked us in and thanked us for choosing the promenade. I travel pretty often and I can't remember the last time a hotel staff member thanked me. We got to our room and it was great. The bed was fantastic, and the room just had a really warm feeling to it. My wife was impressed with the bathroom and couldn't stop talking about the great nights sleep she got. (She actually asked the manager where everything came from because as I later learned we are going to purchase the bedding package.) Needless to say we cancelled our reservations at the HI Express and stayed at the promenade. It was great and the staff was amazing. Everytime we passed someone on the staff we were greeted and I lost count how many times we were thanked. I told the manager that when I got home I was going to write a review of the hotel as a thank you for the great service.

We usually book our hotels ahead of time but this trip we drove into Savannah without any definite plans. We stopped at the visitor's bureau and asked if they had any specials for Thursday and Friday night and they suggested the Promenade - walking distance from River St. We were initially pleased with the room - good location and all - however when we went to bed I found what looked like dog hairs on the top sheet. We had two beds in the room so we just slept in the other bed. The main complaint I have was the NOISE!! Some have mentioned traffic noise but that was not the case here. Turns out there are several bars nearby. The patrons hang out right in the back of the hotel (where our room was) played loud booming music on their cars, shouting, etc. I called the front desk at 1:30 am to ask was there anything that could be done. The young guy at the desk (who called me honey and darling when I am a 57 year old woman) told me unfortunately it was a public street and there wasn't much that could be done. I called again at 3 am and he told me the bars were closing soon - that many of the patrons park in the hotel parking lot - and in 15 minutes it would be very quiet. He was right. I usually can just turn a hotel fan on loud but this unit only ran the fan when the air was on so I finally turned the thermostat down to 60 degrees, took a tylenol pm and was able to get some sleep. Perhaps it is not as bad during the week.

I was in Savannah recently for the Savannah Music Festival at SCAD and needed a reasonably priced hotel in a good location for a few nights. I found that in The Promenade.
Our room was recently refurbished and looked quite nice. The bathroom had all new fixtures and a HUGE mirror across from the commode (which was a bit disconcerting), but was pretty nice for a hotel bathroom. The beds were comfy and there was a large flat-screen TV, fridge and coffee maker. With only 1 wardrobe, 1 chest of drawers and 2 full beds, the room was a tad small for 4 people.
Construction was largely over. There were some painters around doing exterior work. They were all nice and stepped out of the way when we came down the halls.
The concierge was helpful with maps and directions for getting about town and the folks at the front desk were very pleasant and assisted me with a special delivery I was expecting. And it was nice having access to the internet in the lobby (as I don't have a laptop). I found the continental breakfast just OK. It could have used some fruit.
The location was great. We were within walking distance to the shops and restaurants on the riverfront and all the places we needed to go to at SCAD. Plenty of night spots were walkable, too. The price was hard to beat. We booked thru an internet travel site.
The Promenade is by no means the Westin or Fours Seasons, but I wasn't looking for those kind of luxuries (and prices) on this trip. I'd go there again on my next trip back to Savannah.
