We went to Savannah for a family wedding and stayed at the Promenade. My sister-in-law had given her credit card number to hold the reservation, and when we checked in we gave them ours. When we got home we received a call from Bank of America who said they had suspicious activity on our card, and we called them back. There were several large amounts charged to our credit card in Fla. We haven't been to Fla.

My sister-in-law also had the same problem, many charges pushing her balance over the limit. We all contacted the hotel and they are denying any such problems, stating that perhaps the company they use to process charges (which is based in Fla) is where the problem is. We're still investigating whether it was an employee at the hotel.....as our credit card did not reflect the hotel charge (and we had presented our card) but had numerous charges on it from Fla.

Just be careful. Otherwise, the hotel was nice enough and convenient to everything. A big disappointment for us an numerous headaches, phonecalls, etc. and the cancellation of our credit card.

Anyone else who has experienced the same problem, please contact the hotel immediately.....or your local fraud hotline.

First of all I was well pleased with the rooms, they were very clean, plenty of towels. I would give them an A on that at first the front desk was very helpful. There is a lot of noise and people stumbling around at all hours of the night but I did not let that bother me. However I went down on monday night to extend our stay through Wednesday night and that is where the trouble began I asked the young man if I could get the same rate for Wed nite we had through Hotels.com for sat-tues he said yes, but that someone had entered us at the full rate and not the hotels.com rate and it would all have to be changed he could change mon through wed but not sat and sun I would have to talk to the manager Connie so I started trying to contact her but she would not return my calls and we had not spoken so there were no conflicts. Finally on the day of departure still no Connie and I was told she was not there to try calling back whereupon my son demanded to see a manager, who pops out but connie who was not real friendly she ended up charging me the full amount (WED)as all I had was the young mans word which I should have got in writing also she charged two parking fees 7 dollars a day as I had two vehicles but one was my son and his fiance who had spent sat - tues at Valdosta Ga where she was from but it was to no avail she aimed to have that parking money so. I love Savannah but hated that a wonderful trip ended on a sour note.

We stayed at The Promenade in Savannah, GA June 21-25, 2008. We were told renovations were now complete which they were, but we were disappointed when we walked into our non smoking room with the smell of smoke and cigarette ashes in the bathroom sink. Although the accommadations are nice they have some serious problems. First off we were warned that we shouldn't move our car in the evenings because they don't have enough parking for all guests. Even though you pay $8 per day for parking it is not guarenteed. Believe me, we went out one evening and had no parking when we returned! Next is don't stay here on Friday or Saturday night unless you are going to party. Since this hotel is is the historic district it is located near lots of bars and clubs. They close at 3am and the whole town is like a riot with screaming, horns blowing, police sirens everywhere, It scared us since we didn't know what was happening and call the front desk. We were told " Oh it's Sat night and it's s3am. It's like this every weekend". The other problem is the pool. It is located at a motel across the street. It's not actually on the same property as the Promenade.

I would not stay here again. They have alot of problems to work out.

We stayed one night at The Promenade Hotel in Savannah. It was a disagreeable experience. Most travel sites give great reviews of the hotel. Our personal experience was not as wonderful. Our room only had 1 set of towels and when my wife called to ask for more she was informed that she had to go downstairs to get them. We spent the night with a cockroach in the room, there were no "do not disturb" door signs and when I asked the front desk person, he told me that there were and to go look for it! Only one positive note: the morning personnel were wonderful and helpful. Marcia (I hope I have her name correctly) and the hospitality lady.
