“Best continental breakfast!”

This motel has one of the best continental breakfasts that I've ever had. Not too many places would have sausage, gravy, and biscuits. The room was very clean. The shower was great. We got a good deal too on a 1night stay going back to north GA from a roomsaver magazine for $50.00 for the night. The breakfast alone paid for our night stay for 4 people. I highly recommend this motel.

Traveled to Savannah in September '07 on person business and chose hotel because of the price and location, stayed 2 days The room smelled moldy but I did not ask for another room because Ianother party had an adjoining room which was fine except for the hard beds. The toilet had not been cleaned properly, the front desk clerk was nice enough to come clean it, apologizing for housekeeping. The furniture is worn to the point of having bald areas.
My roommate found a bug in the shower the first night, but did not tell me. I found a multitude of ants the next night on the night table. I went to the front desk and asked for bug spray (knowing that housekeeping was not around). I sparyed the room myself. The next morning what appeared to be a baby "roach" was crawling on the vanity. Management did make some compensation, the first night free and the second half-off. So far no indication that I brought home bugs or ants.

“Good enough but nothing more”

The size of the room was okay, but it was pretty dark in the room. The room could use some renovation (bubbling wallpaper, rusty bathroom parts). We had a pleasant stay, though. One thing was really terrible: the beds and the linen. We didn't appreciate it that the front desk personnel appeared to favor the more expensive Savannah tours. We later learned at the Savannah Visitor Center that the information provided by the hotel was false. The wireless internet was okay, so was the free continental breakfast. In all, we didn't have a really bad experience, but we felt we paid too much for what we got here.

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — its location, close to the I-95, easy to get into Savannah
    • Disliked — the beds and linen: just T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E

“Noisy, poorly maintained”

Best Western Savannah Gateway

Look elsewhere unless price is your only concern. This motel is too far out if you have come to visit Savannah. Half of the rooms face the noisy I-95. We were given room 136 "on the quiet side" facing the noisy pool area. Parking was on the other side of the pool. A very inconvenient room to carry luggage to. The front desk staff were unfriendly and obviously gave us a bad room since we had booked a good rate via AAA. They charged extra for a Friday night. The double bed room is poorly designed, little space for hanging clothes. The room door did not fit tightly so bugs could easily come in, and light was visible around it at night. The decor (beds, bedding, furniture, lamps) are old and tired. The corners of the room were icky looking, rarely if ever cleaned. The baseboard electrical outlet for our computer was ancient. A poorly maintained and noisy motel. We would not stay here again.

Stayed here for one night while traveling along I-95. Located right off interstate in large complex of hotels and restaurants. Used coupon book (books are free and located at various restaurants, hotel lobbies, and rest areas along interstate highways.) Coupon rate was $49. Hotel is attached to Denny's restaurant and hotel guests receive 10% discount. Convenient parking available next to room. Room was comfortable but mildew was very evident in bathroom, and towel rack had considerable rust. Missed free breakfast because left hotel very early.

    • Disliked — mildew
