My experience began when I called the inn to make a reservation. It was later in the evening (around 8:30pm) and I got the voicemail. I didn't leave a message, but as soon as I hung up the phone, Patrick called me back. The room I wanted was booked but Patrick was very patient with me as I kept him on the phone while researching the other rooms. I finally settled on Rm 207.
We arrived at the inn and Mrs. Godby checked us in. She was extremely sweet and seemed genuinely excited that we had booked the room for 4 nights. A young man named Troy was standing nearby and did not hesitate to ask if we needed help carrying our luggage to the room. He carried my EXTREMELY heavy suitcase up 2 flights of stairs without any fuss at all and was very polite. The room was beautiful and HUGE! Much larger than I was expecting!
We decided to eat dinner at the restaurant downstairs on our first night. We were promptly seated and our server, Stephen, came to introduce himself. Stephen was phenomenal. He seemed genuinely happy to be there and did an amazing job helping us choose from the menu. The food was delicious, I had the Neptune Trio and my fiancee had the chef's special that night.
The only issue I had there was so minor it's almost not worth mentioning, but I have to mention it because of the way it was remedied. I found that the housekeeper had only left 1 clean towel instead of 2. I called the front desk and Patrick answered. I told him what happened (I'm not a complainer, but I had to have an extra towel!!!), and Patrick immediately brought a towel set to my room with a smile.
We decided to eat dinner our last night at the restaurant as well, and we requested Stephen as our server. Again, Stephen was amazing. He really added to the whole experience with his wit and charm.
I recommend you stay at this inn. This was my first trip to Savannah and I couldn't have asked for a better (or more romantic!!) vacation, and the 17 Hundred 90 Inn made my experience just that much more amazing.
