We booked this last minute as our plans changed and it was OK for the most part except cleanliness: the table was greasy and I had to wash it several times with water, we wanted to bath our 2 year old but decided otherwise because the tub was definitely not clean.

We just spent the past weekend at this hotel. We were meeting friends for a weekend in Savannah, and a friend of theirs recommended this hotel. We booked our stay before I read the reviews on this page. The negative comments made me wonder if we had made a mistake. We did not. We arrived on Friday afternoon hot and tired and were immediately greeted with a clean, welcoming lobby and a staff with smiling faces! The entire time we were there, the staff treated us like special friends. We stayed in a one bedroom suite, which was immaculate - including the carpet. Our friends had a king size deluxe room facing the pool. Everything we needed was available to us. The room smelled fresh and clean, the bed was comfy, the towels were great, it was quiet, we felt safe, and our room was convenient to the pool and the parking lot, but out of the way of any exterior noise. There are a few issues with the hotel being on the older side, but those are minor, and it is obvious they are in the process of updating things. The location was convenient to everything we wanted to do. We had a great time with our friends, the breakfast buffet was good, and happy hour was awesome, and the experience was positive in all respects.

K, while planning my trip to Savannah I ran across the website for this establishment. I had never stayed in one of these before. It was okay I guess. The room itself was 119.00 per nite. I thought was a little pricey for something along the lines of a best western or Days Inn. The staff was friendly, the only thing I must say I didnt' like was I requested a non smoking room and the room I got was non smoking..but the adjoining room (door that separated my room to someone elses) was apparently a smoking room. I could smell cigarette smoke most of the trip. I wasn't to happy about that..but the room served it purpose. I slept there and that is what I needed. I would stay in this establishment again. On the reservation it stated that I was to have bottled water chilled in the refrigerator in the room along with a snack basket, that wasn't there..no big deal, but if you charge those type of rates for something along those lines..ya need to do what you say your gonna do...

“Disappointed”

Clubhouse Inn & Suites Savannah

5 Jul 2008

I am surprised at the recent reviews stating that the hotel was clean - we did not share that experience. Beds, pillows and towels are clean but the floors are filthy! My kids feet were black within 15 minutes of walking on the hotel room floor. While I'm sure they were swept, I doubt they've ever been cleaned. Vents in the room were caked with dust. Not much worked properly in our room - most of the lights weren't operational, at times the AC kicked on and off 20 or 30 times a minute, the TV was snowy, the phone didn't work and the internet didn't work. The hotel staff was very friendly however - when I found that the washing machine at the hotel didn't work, the staff allowed me to use their laundry facilities. The pool area is very nice, lots of tables and a gazebo. Location was good - right on the road into Savannah. And lots of options for shopping and eating very close by. I would say that it's a nice place to stay if you're not picky about cleanliness and are willing to wear your shoes at all times.

“There's good and bad!”

Reading the reviews you would think people were writing about two different hotels. Our party rented 4 different rooms, 3 were pool side and 1 was a suite, all on the first floor. None of us were happy with our rooms but the place isn't all bad.
The good: decent location (foget about the pawn shop out front, business was minimal and I felt very safe walking about at night, downtown was straight up Abercorn St. a couple of miles), breakfast was great (hot and cold food, lots of choices), pool area was beautiful, managers reception was nice, the employees were helpful and friendly, the rooms were generous in size and we felt we got a good value for the money ($81).
The bad: other reviews are right about the smell (it was strong), moisture was another huge problem (our clothes always felt damp in the morning when we put them on, swimsuits and towels never dried), carpets in the room and hallways were very dirty and stained (don't walk around in bare feet or white socks), shower was very dark once you pulled the curtain. We only saw one dead cockroach and it was in a hallway and it was there our entire visit.
It looks like they care more about the lobby, pool area and breakfast area and not so much about the rooms. The little things need help: lots of grout is missing around fixtures, soap scum on the fixtures, stains on the carpets, washing machine was broken, light fixtures didn't work, peeling wallpaper). If you're going to stay here I would suggest the second floor (although there is no elevator), it seemed drier.

After all is said and done, if I were to visit this area again, I would not stay in this hotel.
