“The staff is almost walking reversed”

Savannah - Days Inn Airport Entrance

First i didn't mind the "relaxed" attitude of the staff. But after 4 days i really ran away from the hotel.

When i came into my room the lights in the front part of the room weren't working, In the bathroom was alot of hair from previous guests, the toilet barely flushed, and the sink was dirty with toothpaste.

In the restaurant you are being treated like a real intruder, looks like they can't wait for you to pay and bugger off.

At night, i couldn't return to my room because the batteries of the lock were empty. The staff was so lazy or incapable that they needed the janitor for replacing the batteries, who of course wasn't available at that time. Come on, like replacing batteries in a remote control, easy job!

So from that moment on some guy always had to go to my room with me to open my door. After asking for about the 6th time that day (hehehe) to open my door, i got another room.

Anyway, the breakfast is even worse, you can only get fat donuts and fat pieces of bread, everything is made of throw away plastic and there is actually somebody sitting there expecting a tip. Poor lady! Fair enough, she was the most courteous person i've seen there, worth a tip for just being pleasant. The juice machine was broken. The coffee was like tea. I think you'll become very very fat if you stay there long enough.

Since i didn't tip everybody it took me about 30 minutes to get served that afternoon. Didn't matter anyway, where else would you want to go in the middle of nowhere?

Value for money - it is a Days Inn, after all, so I didn't expect anything great, but it was OK. Room was clean. Front desk staff was friendly. Lighting in the room was bright (a welcome change from the usual yellow bulbs, the room had soft white bulbs). TV was big. Wireless Internet was fast and had no problems getting on. Bathroom needs to be updated, though. The fixtures were old and some were about to come loose.
Breakfast was basic. Some items could be added, like fresh fruits.
I appreciated the free Newsweek.
It was a short drive to the Historic District of Savannah.
The hotel bar was interesting as it was located in the middle of a small lake in front of the property.

“Delightful Surprise”

Days Inn Airport
Savannah, GA

If you want the convenience of being right in the middle of Savannah, this hotel is not for you.

However, if you are willing to be 9 miles away from the historic district, the Days Inn airport is a real treat.

And since Savannah is a great walking town, you can make the drive in, spend the whole day wandering around or taking a tour or two, and make the drive back at night.

In return for that slight inconvenience, you save about a third of the hotel cost, and get a beautiful, spotless, large room for less than $100 a night. The staff is unfailingly friendly, and the
free continental breakfast is bountiful and delicious. (You can choose among cereal, toast, pastries, instant grits and instant oatmeal, fresh fruit, and more.)

We found not a single thing to complain about at this hotel. We spent $69 a night on our stay, and it was a delightful surprise to get the roominess, cleanliness, and friendly service we received for that price.

Looked online for a hotel near Savannah airport entrance. This is 6 miles away but advertises as being at the entrance. 3 bugs crawling in bed when I pulled covers back. Smelly, dirty, towels on floor in bathroom, scum and mold in bathtub, old toothpaste stuck on sink, old coffee grounds in coffee pot, coffee pot dirty, alarm clock did not work, wake up call requested for 3am to catch plane but they did not call. Restaurant attached to hotel has a broken glass door, dirty floors, $19 dinners in an atmosphere anyone would agree is not worth that charge - but they are the only place around. Hercules bar across street that is owned by restaurant very smoky, filled with (20?) drunk truckers. Small pizza took 55 minutes to be cooked even though they said it was their only order! While I waited outside on the deck a person left the motel walking and crossed the trucking route road the motel sits on and got hit in the crosswalk. Amid all the ambulances, police, fire department my cook (before giving me my food) left to go view the accident then all three cooks were outside on the deck conversing in Greek until I asked for my food. Cold and dirty, the motel faces a road traveled all night by trucks so the night was filled with loud traffic noises. Hotel staff relocated me to another room but I refused to sleep in the bed because of the bugs in the previous room - slept in my clothes sitting on the chair - would not even bring my bags in for fear of carrying bugs home. Maintenance man picked one of the bugs up and said just because it had little squirming legs he was not sure it was a bug!!!!! Manager said, "You're in the South, you have to expect bugs" - well, yeah, but not in my bed! Photo attached to this listing very deceptive. Exterior of building okay but interior filthy. Stayed because I had only 5 hours until I had to leave and didn't have anywhere else to go not knowing area. This is a part of Savannah that is not safe so I toughed it out until I could leave. Four planes, 16 hours later I took the longest shower of my life so I could feel clean again. Need I say more?

This room (252) was filthy. Smeared windows and mirrors, dirty
and broken couch, dirt on the floor and baseboards. Broken whirlpool, the restaurant/bar was closed. I got glass in my foot walking to the pool. The coffee pot was broken. We had to keep our rental car becuase the shuttle was not working. It cost us an additional $52.99 in car rental. We will NEVER stay at Days Inn again unless there is absolutely NO other choice.
