This hotel is very rude. We ended up cancelling our reservation the day before our intented stay due to sickness in the family. They stated to us that we would be liable for $25.00 per room for the cancellation. When I received my credit card statement they had charged the full price for a 1 night stay. When we called to resolve the situation we were told that we did not even cancel the room even though we had confirmation from them. The person we spoke with even admitted that they were sold out for that weekend so they did not even lose money. The hotel will not even discuss the situation and refuses to listen to reason.

Myself, my boyfriend, and his friend stayed here when they had to take the NYSPP test in Utica. I've read over the other reviews that are posted and they sound like a totally different place... they must have done a renovation. This is not a 5 star hotel by any means but the staff was friendly and our room was clean and nice. We had 2 full beds, a frig, microwave, and the bathroom was clean. I used the WI-FI and didnt have a problem getting or staying online. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bedding was not that cheap nasty "hotel" plastic blanket. The beds had a down comforter and the mattress was extremely comfortable. We were all suprised at how great the beds were. We were in room # 112... I dont know whut the other posts were talking about when they said there was mold and that the room was dirty.. maybe the management has changed... well at least request the room we had .. it was totally fine... great for our 2 night stay... the dennys made things convient too, and there a few stores, including a grocery store you can walk to right behind the hotel.

“Filthy And Unfriendly Do Not Visit”

Quality Inn

6 Jan 2008

Me and my family of four were passing through NY. We decided to stay in the Quality Inn. What we thought would be a pleasant motel was the biggest SHAMBLES we had ever come across.
At the reception stood a small dark Indian man. He was on the phone on a personal call. We told him that we'd like a room but he carried on talking on the phone rudely in another language for a few minutes. When he finally did speak to us in broken English he told us about the room. We asked if we could see the room. He RUDELY told us that we could either take the room or leave it. We reluctantly decided to take the room as it was late.
As soon as we entered the room we knew we had made a mistake. The carpet was FILTHY with what appeared to be fur balls of animal hair on the carpet. The STENCH from the bathroom was unbearable. The edges of the bathtub were covered in black MOLD and there was a smell of DAMP. We complained about the SHODDY room to the receptionist. Once again we were told to either take the room or leave the room. He then had the further cheek to tell us that if we left we would not be given a refund. At this moment he also thought appropriate to slag off the nearby Econo-Lodge which thankfully we did stay at the following night.
The Econo-Lodge I'm pleased to say was much better. The hotel had been renovated and was clean with plenty of amenities such as a fridge an iron and free breakfast.

So in summary
DO NOT STAY AT THE HOLIDAY INN IN ROME. It has to be one of the worst examples of a motel I have ever seen. The standards of hygiene were unbearable and so was the level of service.

My advice is to always check the room. Its not all about the name on the sign

All I can say is what a dump!

I walked in to the Quality Inn expecting a clean comfortable no frills hotel. What I got would make you shudder. There was black mold growing in the shower area. When I complained at the front desk, I was told that I could take it or leave it but they had no more rooms available (which I doubt, the parking lot was almost deserted). However, I would still be charged for the room.

I ended up staying, since it was after 10 pm and I didn't feel safe driving around town alone.

Around midnight I was awakened to the sound of racing cars on the street. (Not the hotel's fault, but still, the rooms are not soundproofed at all.)

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Be warned - This motel will reserve a room on line that they do not have. While having my floors redone in my home we booked 2 rooms in this motel using my choice rewards points. Upon arrival I was told that they did not have that room type anymore, not that they were full, they just don't have queen smoking handicap rooms even though I booked one. I needed the smoking room because we had our pets and they only allow pets in smoking rooms and I needed the handicap room because my wife could not climb stairs and they have no elevator. The only smoking rooms they had were upstairs. The second room was for my son who can't be in a smoking room.
needless to say we were unable to stay. The rub is the hotel will only return half of my points. (12000 points for each room) Don't think Choice hotels will help you either they say they can only return to you what the hotel wants you to have. They state that I needed to call them that night, I waited till the next morning and that was too late.
