My wife and I spent seven nights, and most of the experience was good. I'll list positive and then negative comments.

Positive:
1. The location is ideal for Boston University, and anyplace in downtown Boston or connected by the T. Also Brookline is well worth investigating. You won't need a car to get to most spots in the metro area.
2. The place is clean and reasonably quiet. It's air-conditioned.
3. The breakfast is good and plentiful. The staff that serve breakfast and clean the rooms are all excellent.
4. The clientele seem interesting and polite people who are good to get to know.
5. Many of the staff persons are friendly and pleasant. Special commendation to Joe.

Negative:
1. Some of the staff is seemingly untrained or new on the job. It's a very minor thing, but I had to ask four people to change the lightbulb above the bathroom sink. All four said it would be done. Only the last, Joe, actually saw to it.
2. The lighting in the room is not good. A few of the staff ought to try writing at the desk in the evening. No light nearby. Also poor lighting in the bathroom over the sink, even with all the bulbs installed.
3. The booklet in the room informing guests of hotel policies and features is out of date. We had a backed-up toilet the first morning. The number to call did not yield an answer--only a phone company recording. The next morning we were told that, Oh, the number in the booklet is out of date. That number had not been changed by the time we left.
4. Also out of date is the information relating to times someone is on duty at the desk. I could find no one to help us with the problem mentioned in number three. That was about 6:30 a.m. I was told later that the time listed in the booklet for staff availability was also out of date. Who knew?
Very little money would alleviate these problems. All the comments we read in the guest book were the usual praise, but I have a feeling that those who are dissatisfied don't write anything. After all, the young staff are by and large very nice. I'd say this is a place on the edge of being very good, instead of just good.

This was a horrible stay. We booked this mini vacation for ourselves because the look of the Inn was lovely, quaint, New England, peaceful... just perfect. What we found were rude children running the place, whose English was terrible and who clearly have no experience in the hospitality industry. The head innkeeper who calls herself the general manager had no customer service skills and was probably the rudest person I've ever met in the industry. Her sidekicks were sloppy and not the least bit helpful when I asked for restaurant recommendations -- not to mention that I couldn't understand his English. This place should be ashamed of itself. Too bad the property is so lovely and conveniently located. The staff is horrible. I do not recommend this place. Hire a new staff and then I'd come back.

This is a really cute and comfortable B&B in Brookline... I stayed here for a couple of nights and it was very reasonable and extremely convenient. It's steps away from the T stop so it's very convenient to go to downtown. It's also within walking distance from Coolidge Corner (lots of nice shops, restaurants, supermarket, etc.--try the Upper Crust for an excellent slice of pizza and Anna's Taqueria for cheap and yummy Mexican).
The room itself was small and since my room was on the 3rd floor the ceiling was a bit low. But the room came with its own TV so it was useful in checking the weather etc. I liked the room's decor and it's kept very clean.
I really enjoyed the breakfast here, especially the home-made scones baked by the innkeeper! Super yummy. They also serve cookies and lemonade in the afternoon, which was a nice treat after coming back from a long day walking around downtown etc.

This inn is easily reached by public transportation but is located in a pretty and fairly quiet neighborhood off Beacon Street. It is convenient to Fenway/Kenmore area colleges and hospitals. Good restaurants, shopping and a movie theater are within short walking distance. The inn is a 3-story building with a large comfortable parlor, sunroom and outdoor sunporch on the first floor. Coffee, tea, cookies and other snacks and reading material are always available in the parlor. The rooms are nicely decorated with good quality linens, towels, robes and toiletries. At bedtime, a weather report, poem and chocolates are placed on the bed. Breakfast was delicious cherry bread pudding, apple cake, fruit, cereal, granola, toast, yogurt, etc. I was so comfortable, I hated to leave after one night. I would certainly stay here again.
