Chena is about a 1-1.5 hour drive from Fairbanks through prime moose viewing territory. This is the best road to see moose in Alaska. When we arrived at the ice museum, I was very disappointed when looking at it from the outside. It appears very small, and has a fake ice exterior. Fortunately I decided to reward the kids for the trip out there, because once we went in, we were all amazed. They provide you a parka since it's around 20 degrees inside, and once you get in, they won't let you out until the hour is over, so make sure you dress warmly! Inside it's spectacular, highlighted by the two life-sized jousters on horses. There are several rooms to visit, plus an igloo. I didn't have the martini in the ice glass at the ice bar since I don't like martinis, but that would have been unique. Check it out, and look closely for moose on the way there and back.
One earlier review mentioned an ice slide, which is no longer there.
