I stayed here twice over a four day period. I was very happy with my experience here. During my first stay, they placed me in a suite with a king size bed, separate whirlpool tub, couch, kitchenette and a dinner table (for the normal rate). During my second stay, they placed me in a standard room with two beds but it also included a small refrigerator and a microwave. The rooms were very clean and new - I was told that this was the hotel's first summer tourist season.

The fitness room was small but adequate for the most part. It included an elliptical machine and a treadmill. They offered clean towels but no television, which really surprised me. They really should add a television to the fitness room. A sauna was also in the fitness room. The fitness room is open 24 hours a day. The first time I used the fitness area it was somewhat dirty - there were food wrappers and dirty towels on the floor but I consider that minor. I didn't see that the second time I used the facility.

The continental breakfast was good. They offered bagels, toast, milk, cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, eggs, breakfast meat, coffee, etc. The coffee was a bit weak for me but I tend to like my coffee a bit strong.

The hotel included plenty of parking and it is free. Also, the hotel is right across from the airport. It takes less than five minutes to get to the airport from the hotel.

While traveling in Alaska in July 2007, my husband and I stayed at the Alpine Lodge in Fairbanks for two nights. I didn't know what to expect b/c we had never stayed there before-- but I was amazed by the facility and the excellent quality of service for the price. The hotel is brand-new and it is obvious that the owners put a lot of care and attention into all the special little details. The airport was right across the street -- very convenient for our flight to Barrow! The hotel provided free shuttle service to Fairbanks, which was fabulous for our evenings out on the town. In the lobby, there is a computer with free Internet access. Also, there are big-screen, flat-plasma tvs in the lobby with very comfortable couches. What I loved the most was the nicely decorated laundry room for guests' use -- which is very handy especially for the tourist who needs to do a load of laundry after several days of road travel. The staircase is well-lite, carpeted, and inside the hotel main lobby, which is great for safety reasons and the single female traveler. The hotel is also located in a very safe area. The hallways are spacious -- and the rooms nicely decorated in contemporary Alaska style and the beds were comfy with fresh plush linens. The property is kept impeccably clean! I was also very impressed with the hotel staff, including the courtesy van drivers, who were all very accomodating and friendly. This is a fabulous hotel and I really felt like we got our money's worth. I am very critical of hotels, and this one was outstanding.

“A few problems”

Considering this is a new hotel, I should have expected a few problems. We were told they had shuttle service within 5 miles of the hotel, so after we checked in we requested a shuttle to take us to the museum (beautiful). Seems the shuttle driver had to go shop for breakfast items the the next day. While the staff stood around eating and chatting, we patiently waited 2 1/2 hours for the guys (the only one) to come back. Not only hungry, but ate up half our afternoon. That night we went to bed early, 10:30, to get up for a 4:00 am trip to the airport. At 12:30 all the fire alarms in the place went off, startling us. Everyone had to vacate outside in the cold and rain. The fire department came, after about 30 minutes they let us go back in with no explanation at all, just sorry about the inconvinence. Of course after that we were unable to get back to sleep!! There is very little around the Alpine, as far as food goes. Clean and new, but they haven't got it together very well.

This hotel looks nice, however it's lack of sound proofing in any part of it's structure makes sleeping very difficult. The doors slam, the refrigerator from the next room hums throught the wall, and when the neighbor above flushes the toilet it sounds like a tsunami is approaching. As a pilot I live out of hotels all around the country. This is by far the LOUDEST hotel I've ever stayed at. I wont be back.

This hotel was only open 2 weeks when I stayed there in June 2007. They are still doing the finishing touches. For example, my bathroom didn't have any towel bars and there are no pictures on any walls. The breakfast is very good with a nice selection but the staff wasn't really on top of keeping it stocked with food when things ran out. The beds are comfortable but the pillows are too firm for me. The housekeeping could use some work. My bathroom floor was dirty when I checked in and I had to request housekeeping to come and vacuum. They were apologetic but it turned me off since it made me wonder about what else didn't get cleaned. At check-in they tried to charge me more for my room than I was quoted and then their computer wouldn't work to run my credit card. I had to speak to 3 different people to finally get my rate corrected to what I was quoted. In general, the staff were nice and tried hard to please but they were disorganized. I think that this hotel will get better once they have been open for a while and the staff is trained. This hotel is one of the nicer ones you could choose in Fairbanks even with the problems I experienced.
