“Perfect stay in Fairbanks”

A Moose in the Garden Bed & Breakfast

27 Jul 2008

We took a motorcycle trip from Michigan to Alaska in late June and early July of 2008. Fairbanks was a planned stop. A Co-worker told us about "A Moose in the Garden". We emailed the owner, Kathy several times about our schedule. The night we arrived in Fairbanks, our call to the B&B was answered by Kathy. Our room was ready. She met us upon arrival and were welcomed into her home; A beautiful log cabin in an amazing setting. There are two rooms in the lower level that share a bathroom. A pool table and sauna are available on this level as well. The third room is the loft with a private bathroom, featuring a jacuzzi tub. There is a special space for children to sleep if you are traveling as a family. During our three night stay, Mt McKinley shared her illusive beauty with us on two occasions as we were relaxing on the deck. The view was amazing! The construction of the cabin is captured in print and the photo album is very interesting to look through. A delightful stay for us with the added bonus of making new friends. (Breakfast was the best meal of the day!) We highly recommend a stay at this B&B if you are in the Fairbanks area.

My wife and I spent three nights at this B&B just outside of Fairbanks. It was recommended to us by the Fairbanks Tourist Information. Initially, we were looking for something more centrally located, but then went to this B&B as it looked and sounded interesting. And folks can I tell you, this place was everything it promised to be and then some.
Our hostess, Kathy, was such a wonderful person. She was never shy of recommendations for places to go if asked, and they were good recommendations. Her breakfasts were made taking into consideration our likes & dislikes, and they were wonderful. On two mornings, we stayed in and continued talking to her (and other guests) for quite some time simply because it was such a good time and nice atmosphere!
If you have a car, which I'm sure you do, then don't mind the 12 miles to go here. Free internet access (either wireless or on her computer), you can use her washer & dryer if you ask nicely, rooms were in great condition, everything was fine.
If we ever return to Fairbanks, we will make sure to book here in advance.

On most of our recent three-week trip through Alaska, my wife and I drove a rented car and stayed in B & B's. Our northernmost stop was Fairbanks, where we stayed at "A Moose in the Garden," which I had picked out for its online description. Initially concerned that it was a few miles from town, we soon realized that the location was perfect, up on a hill in a quiet area, with (on a clear day) a view of Denali 100 miles away. The drive into town was simple. Kathy could not have been more warm and welcoming. In all B & B's you feel that you are in someone's home. Here we felt like family. We stayed upstairs in the Northern Lights room, a wonderful open space in this impressive log home. All the comforts of home. (More than in ours - the room includes a Jacuzzi!) Breakfasts were, needless to say, varied and delicious, served family style. I would certainly recommend "A Moose in the Garden" to anyone looking for a welcoming B & B in Fairbanks.

Our group of six drove from central Florida to Fairbanks and stayed at this delightful three story log cabin home in the outskirts of Fairbanks. The accomodations were all we had expected and more. The view of Mount McKinley from the back deck on the main floor was spectacular. The homemade breakfasts served by our hostess were delicious and varied. Our host and hostess (Jeff and Kathy) who are longtime residents of Fairbanks were very knowledgeable about places to visit and see in the area and provided us with directions and valuable recommendations. Our five days and four nights in Fairbanks were most enjoyable and gave us memories that we will cherish forever.

Found A Moose in the Garden B&B on the internet. Never had stayed at a B&B before, so was a little hesitant, but called and talked to Kathy at length, and we were like old friends. She kept me updated on things happening around fairbanks before we arrived on June 1st. Her B&B is approximately 12 miles from Fairbanks Alaska, with a perfect view of Mt. McKinley from her deck. (when the mountain shows itself that is) The rooms were very comfortable and very clean. Kathy fixed wonderful breakfasts for us, including her speciality, Moose Muffin Breakfast Casserole. It was so good, we all asked for the recipe to bring home with us.
You won't go wrong with A Moose in the Garden, especially if you want to wake up to birds chirping in the yard and enjoy peace and quiet (which we did). Have already recommended Kathy and Jeff's place to a couple of travelers.
