I have the say the room was nice, very well appointed and large. The bed was not the most comfortable. They could take a lesson from all the hotels that are upgrading the bedding. The only other downside was that you could hear almost every toilet on the floor when it flushed. During the night, it sounded like we were sleeping in a bowling alley. The toilets are those super-duper ones that you could flush a small cariboo down, so when they flush, they make noise and we heard them all, all night long.

The staff is friendly and was said earlier--at times during the day the lobby was mobbed with cruise tour passemgers. But I guess that is to be expected.

The room was spotless and the public areas of the hotel were also sparkling clean.

One low point, my husband was ill the day we were there and I asked for a later check-out since our flight didn't leave until 9pm. I was granted an additional hour until 1pm. The room was vacant that night, but if I wanted to stay past 1pm, it would have cost me an additional $189.00. I could have understood if the boom had been booked, but it wasn't. So I had to drag mu sick husband out of the room and sit in the lobby until it was time to go to the airport. If he had not been ill, we could have gone sightseeing or something else, but that just was not possible.

We stayed at this hotel on an Aurora viewing tour. We booked the $64/night special rate and were very impressed with the hotel. The breakfast in the morning is superb and complete. The fitness room was well appointed and we had no problems with the wireless intenet. The front desk was very helpful. Not only was there free shuttle to the airport, but on one day, the driver was not busy so he gave us a round trip visit to the museum of the north. And, there is an excellent Thai restaurant five minutes away. Great hotel.

As others noted there is an old tower and a new tower. We took advantage of a Winter Rate $64.00/night +tax. Certainly can't beat that price at a business class hotel. (Found out Summer rates are triple the cost of Winter rates and that Fairbanks sells out around 35 days every Summer.) The room was nicely appointed (shampoo/hair dryer, etc); staff didn't wow us, but certainly was nice enough. Free shuttle from the Airport.

The old tower does not have wireless internet...to get the wireless internet you need to be in the new tower which is an extra $10/night off season. We had simply picked the lowest rate, not knowing that there was a difference.

We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights before and during part of the land portion of a cruise package. There were three of us, so we got a suite-type room which was huge! Two televisions, "kitchen" table, refrigerator, coffeemaker, sitting area and desk. The bathroom was spotless. The beds were comfortable. The furniture and fixtures all looked virtually new.

All in all, a very good hotel. The only downside was that the lobby was periodically mobbed when land tours were coming and going, but that is to be expected at a cruiseline-owned hotel.
