I agree that this hotel may have been a victim of some unfair reviews based on peoples location to one another rather than the hotel itself. The hotel is a very busy place as it is a starting, ending and mid point for many people on Cruise Tours. As one of those people, we were mid-way through our tour when we stayed at the Westmark Fairbanks.
When we arrived the lobby was very busy and it took about 5 minutes for our keys to be ready. However the staff handled it very well and had us all on our way in no time.
Our room was very nice. The beds were some of the most comfortable mattresses I have slept on through this whole tour. The room was spotless. The bath was charming with wood closet doors and tile. It was a shame we were only there one short night because we felt we didn't really get a chance to enjoy the room.
The hotel was within walking distance to many restaurants and there was a restaurant in the lobby.
There was an amazing weight room, laundry facilities, and payphone area. A nice gift shop (although rather pricey) and a coffee shop. The lobby is large and there is plenty of room to sit and read the paper and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning if you have time.
This was one of the nicer hotels on our tour. Although the lobby can be busy, the staff handled it well and the rooms were quiet.
