What a horrific disappointment !

For AAA to give this a two star rating is a joke. We had originally booked a week's stay at this hotel, but after our initial check-in followed by an immediate room change, we feverishly began looking for other accomodations. We ventured down a musty smelling hallway on the second floor, lugging our bags as there is no elevator. The first "non-smoking room" reeked of stale smoke and the beds were visually lop-sided and broken down. We returned to the front desk and requested another room. The front desk staff was helpful and pleasant. The second room also reeked of stale smoke, but at least the beds appeared level. We later discovered the beds were extremely uncomfortable with my husband and I continually rolling toward the center throughout the night. The complimentary continental breakfast the following morning was staffed by one of the rudest young ladies we've come across in quite a while. We had been travelling by car for eight days and this was by far the worst hotel of all eight we stayed in. We were very fortunate to find another hotel where we were able to relax and comfortably finish our vacation.

We knew this is the peak of tourist season in the Fairbanks, Alaska area and higher rates are to be expected, however $153.00 USD per night for this kind of lodging is obscene.

This is a drastic contrast to the two star rating of the Best Western in Vancouver, BC -That one was great, clean, spacious rooms, comfy beds and an amazing workout facility.

    • Disliked — The false rating through AAA Guidebook, the rude wait staff at breakfast.

The room was adequate but very dark with insufficient lighting. The wireless internet connection advertised did not work the two days we were there. the hotel also failed to clean the room two days running as they claimed staffing issues and it was an oversight.......two days running! It took a conversation with the owner to remedy this. Consequently I could not recommend this hotel to other travellers!

Just stayed at the Best Western with our family. If I were traveling to Fairbanks again, I would say the hotel is "OK", but leaves several things to be desired. The building appears to be several years old, and the rooms were a bit cramped for our family (1 room with 4 people). The hotel has sort of an odd layout, as if its made of several pre-fab modular units, stacked together. The staff were mostly pleasant, although when were checking out they were very busy so they were a bit rushed.
The hotel did have a smell that was a bit like, an old Navy ship. But the Internet access worked great.

We flew into Fairbanks and waited for about 45 minutes for the shuttle from Best Western to pick us up. The girl who picked us up did not seem all that friendly and did not know the answers to a lot of our questions. The next morning, a man on staff drove us to pick up our rental car and he was very informative and helpful.
The hotel room is VERY basic, dingy and outdated. The hotel itself is not in the best area of town either. One perk was the "continental" breakfast. It was not your typical continental breakfast. It was more like a small hot meal, which was nice. We will not stay here again though:(

As soon as we checked in upon arrival. The front desk told us that they couldn't find our reservation. I wasn't sure if it was the hotel's fault or Orbitz's problem (the website we booked on). I was pretty anxious and was afraid that we didn't have a room to stay. Luckily they said they had 1 more room left, but it was a smooking room. We had no choice since it was late and my husband and I were very tired. I would recommend to confirm your reservation during these high tour season in Alaska. The hotel room was soo soo as we got the smelly smooking room. The breakfast sucks. There's really nothing to eat, just some oats and a cup of coffee. I would not stay here again though.
