What a horrific disappointment !
For AAA to give this a two star rating is a joke. We had originally booked a week's stay at this hotel, but after our initial check-in followed by an immediate room change, we feverishly began looking for other accomodations. We ventured down a musty smelling hallway on the second floor, lugging our bags as there is no elevator. The first "non-smoking room" reeked of stale smoke and the beds were visually lop-sided and broken down. We returned to the front desk and requested another room. The front desk staff was helpful and pleasant. The second room also reeked of stale smoke, but at least the beds appeared level. We later discovered the beds were extremely uncomfortable with my husband and I continually rolling toward the center throughout the night. The complimentary continental breakfast the following morning was staffed by one of the rudest young ladies we've come across in quite a while. We had been travelling by car for eight days and this was by far the worst hotel of all eight we stayed in. We were very fortunate to find another hotel where we were able to relax and comfortably finish our vacation.
We knew this is the peak of tourist season in the Fairbanks, Alaska area and higher rates are to be expected, however $153.00 USD per night for this kind of lodging is obscene.
This is a drastic contrast to the two star rating of the Best Western in Vancouver, BC -That one was great, clean, spacious rooms, comfy beds and an amazing workout facility.
